What has Vera got to do with this? My original point is that Lee is the one who Barker should be fighting, it makes more sense than any other match up that could be made at the moment but Barker's fans seem to not want it, I wonder why :huh

Well I'm a Barker fan and I would love to see him fight Lee.:good

You were implying that Barker was **** against the frenchman (which he was) which is why I brought up Vera.

Also even as a Lee fan you surely could understand it if Barker opted to fight Macklin?

So it's a bit rich saying Lee should fight someone decent when Barker has yet to do the same.

The point is he could manouvre himself into a better position to fight Barker fairly easily.

Barkers got the EBU so there are route's to it. Ok Barker got it without having to do that much which actually shows Mick can do the odd thing right.

I still believe Barker would win against Lee however.

I wasn't implying Barker was ****, I am saying outright that he was **** but the only reason I brought it up was to highlight Rob's hypocrisy in saying Lee should fight someone decent, so again Vera has nothing to do with it.

I think the time for the Macklin fight has come and gone though, Mackin has already proved he is at a higher level whereas Lee is on a par with Barker careerwise so it makes more sense.

But does a win for Barker over Lee get him a bigger fight at this stage?

Once again I would add that I would love to see Barker fight Lee.

I think so, Lee is better known in the US than Macklin right now and is still thought of as a very good prospect despite his one loss so a win over him would definitely put Barker in contention for bigger fights, too bad for Barker that he won't beat Lee though :D

My point is if Andy Lee wants a fight with Barker for the European title so bad his last fight could have been agaisnt a fighter ranked highly by the EBU to put himself in that position.

Also Barker has no control over his next opponent unelss he vacated the european title. he has to fight two mandatorys that was part of the agreement. Also when Barker was given the position to fight for the vacant title he would have offered the fight to a list of contenders in the EBU rankings going down in order. Lee would have been on that lsit before the french geezer.

If Macklin turns down the mandatory, it will be offered to Mahir Oral, then Domenico Spada. Both ranked higher in the world rankings than Andy Lee.

He is really not thought if highly in the US. His performances leading up to the Vera fight were not spectacular and the Vera fight was the last time they saw him.

I know this as I listened to a boxing radio show yesterday from the US where they interviewed Andy Lee and both Lee and the presenters stated Lee is not rated highly by US fans.

I'm just frankly supprised that they haven't pushed Lee on. He could have been in a much better postion at this point if he is up to the task. He has the powers that be behind him and a high profile trainer yet he can't seem to get the fights which make me wonder how hard they are trying to get the fights.

I will Avatar bet you if the fight ever happens!!!

He is certainly still thought of as a very good prospect. Obviously some people have written him off because of one loss but those who know boxing still rate him highly.

this is why I am suspect on Lee. Its exaclty the same as what happend with Duddy. Got a **** load of hype early and there talking about world titles after 15 fights. 10 fights later and there no closer to stepping up even the level of opponents.
