Who career stands out in your mind? I ask this because I have seen many Hearns tribute pages and not many Hagler tribute pages. It seems like Hearns is very appreciated, yet I know Hagler beat him.

Hearns being the first man to win so many multi weight world championships is probably gona be remembered for that..
Though both as equally iconic in my book, espcially due to The War.

i voted Hearns. On average from 1980 to 1991 he fought a great fighter every 1 1/2 years.

in terms of performances hearns, his fights were nothing short of breath taking. but in terms of overal legacy its hagler, not only for the war, but the fact that he feared nobody and never really got the fame he greatly deserved.

Hagler takes the cake on all fronts for me, but I can see why Hearns would be the choice for most. Marvin has shunned the spotlight since he retired.

Hagler's the greater fighter, but Hearns is probably more "iconic."

Hearns really burst on the scene, destroying everybody in sight. His first fight with Leonard was a classic, and his destruction of Duran is among the most impressive KOs of the era. Hagler labored in obscurity much longer, but overall had the better career, imo.

how did Hagler have the better career? Hearns beat Virgil Hill and Hagler never moved up in weight. Hearns is a multichamp. I think the careers are comparable. If Hagler is great it is very close. I always thought Tommy was greater. He fought greater and beat more great fighters.

Hearns is more revered simply because he was a world class fighter in 3 divisions(virtually unbeatable at 147 and 154...still world class at 160 and above). Hagler had one of the most dominant reigns in history at 160 but he never moved up in weight. It's one of those classic p4p versus head to head kinds of debates...

you are exactly right. I mistyped. Hagler is great and there is no way I would say otherwise. He is in my mind one of the top 3 middleweights ever and could be the best ever. I meant to say if Hagler is greater (than Hearns) it is close, I didn't proof read.. Sorry. Hagler is great and a top ATG. I left out the er on the word great.. Hagler is one of my favorite fighters and if Marvin is not great than it would hard for anyone to be great.
