what causes a guy to jump up after getting hit with a knockout punch
examples like when kevin mitchell knocked out mendoza and when jean pascal hit that nivea guy or whatever!
i just find it interesting because a guy usually just drops down when he's hit that hard!

    any thoughts??

This isn't about the Cintron/Williams fight, is it? Because there was no punch that...

Basically the force of a punch coming up the way. I think the fighters natural reaction is to jump up and away from it to minimize the impact.

Tyson vs. Young in the mid-eighties is a perfect example as is Foreman vs. Frazier 1.

Maybe the punch causes to lift up a guy... watch the nasty uppercut Alexander landed on Urango or the shot from Barrera that sent Hamed flying in the air (and not going down).

Nah, the punch Frazier received from Foreman was so brutal it actually lifted him from the ground... I don't think he jumped

It's not the force which lifts boxers up, it's their reaction to getting hit, whilst having lost all their senses. Foreman didn't lift Frazier off the ground, he just hit him so hard, Frazier's body reacted unusually.

its a cause from late reaction from the body with hamed it was just bad balance jumpin himself but with mendoza he got hit then his body reacted a few seconds late

Its not the force of the punch, its just the body losing its equilibrium and balance so as the legs go to jelly and you fall, the legs attempt to sort things out of their own accord.

It's actually not so strange that it never happens. The force that some boxers hit with is a lot more than the weight of their opponents, but there is no contactpoint on the body (exept the stomach) that can take all the force needed to displace the full body weight upwards.
The floating moments you see in boxing are usually by hooks with the boxers going backwards with their feet off the floor. Example Morrison vs Ruddock.

This, but the legs stiffen before they go to jelly, which gives the effect of a little jump.

Yes indeed, that's logical. Jumping to reduce impact would be a little late when the fist already connects to his gut.

...so that explains why Cintron fell out of the ring...

Now I see... the tripping made his body lose its equilibrium and the leggs tried to solve by diving out of the ring

    LOL
