Interesting to compare the debate from back then compared to what we get now.

Just shows how much Pacquiao has been overrated after beating Oscar while Mayweather's resume gets talked down.

Yeah I was amazed that the first page was mostly pro-Mayweather comments, and then looked at the date

Back then the answer was Mayweather.
    Now the answer is Pacquiao.

The winner of their fight would take the title.

We all know that Floyd's resume is clearly better from top to bottom...

In that case we all forgot to tell that to The Ring Magazine and Boxing Writers Association of America when they voted Manny Pacquiao "Fighter of the Decade". :yep How could all of us forget to tell that to those 100+ boxing writers?

I'm not sure, Floyd's run at 135 seems to be highly overrated.
Corrales, Castillo, Gatti then big hole up to DLH/Hatton.
Marquez does not help Floyd's case either, especially
since Floyd cheated him on the weights..

Pacquiao's good wins: Ledwaba, Barrera(1), Marquez, Diaz, De La Hoya, Cotto, Hatton, Clottey. (decent wins-Sasakul, Solis, Morales(2))

Mayweather's good wins: Hernandez, Manfredy, Corrales, Castillo x2, Gatti, Judah, De La hoya, Mosley, Hatton. (decent wins- Chavez, Ndou, corley, Baldomir etc).

Mayweather has fought better quality opponents for a longer time, and the performances he has put in have been top class from a very young age, whilst Pac was still slightly off-radar.

However, Pacquiao's recent rise through the weight divisions has been more extraordinary. It has been totally unexpected in it's quickness and sheer brutality, which i think glosses over a slow start to his cereer.

Mayweather rose slowly through the weight divisions, and has been suspected to avoid dangerous opponents such as prime Cotto, Margarito and Williams (during his retirement). This adds weight to the argument for Pacquiao.

However, when looking at the overall resume, i think Mayweather has the stronger case.

    really?

why is the castillo 1 a good win for pbf and the morales 2 win of pac wasn't?

would the hatton ko of pac be considered a great win?

and why are the morales 3, larios and julio wins not good or at the very least, decent?

PAc fought Morales like a year after their first fight... The Hatton win is a good win, not great since Floyd already knocked him out, and don't even mention EM 3, Larios who was past it, and Julio who lol...

Well Castillo was in or near prime, top of the lightweight division when Mayweather faced him. Morales had just been beaten by Raheem and was in my opinion slightly past it, making it a good name but in hindsight not so much to write home about. Mayweather's win was close, but still a win, and he repeated the feat again later.

    Morales 3?-See Morales 2
Larios and Julio were ok at their best but both were coming off recent defeats before taking on Pacquaio.

Pac's ko of Hatton was for me a great win, as win over Cotto. But for me Floyd's wins over Mosley, De La Hoya and Corrales were great wins too.

Don't get me wrong, its a tight run thing, and i was first inclined to favour Pacquiao, but when i looked even closer at the resumes, Floyd edges it.

Why PHILLA?:? There's not really anything to discuss. When comparing resumes this is one of the areas that Floyd is not able to win. Give Floyd a reasonable chance on a topic he actually could compete in like "who wins in a fight between Floyd and manny"......or "who has better skills".......this is not a debate.
