As an olde track guy, this one applies...

"The older I get, the faster I used to be."

Basilio's only 82, while Jake is 88. But yeah, there are certain people you do not **** off, no matter how old they get, whether it's Jim Brown, Carmen or LaMotta, or Bob Gibson. (Gibson was in a road rage altercation in 2002 at age 66, and he punched it out with another guy at a gas station after they exchanged traffic cut offs. Unlike the other three though, Gibson can throw deadly projectiles from a distance, so the guy he slugged got off easy.)

    :rofl

Not sure why, but I'd always assumed that Basilio was older.....oh well, 80, 90, whatever. If it was either him or Carl Froch that I had to take on to the carpark for a scuffle....and I don't know much about baseball (?),but I reckon you could give Gibson the ball and me the bat, and it would still take three of me to beat one one third of him.

Maybe because of how young Jake's women sometimes seemed to be.
If you've checked Gibson out on wikipedia, then you've got some idea of how mean and nasty this grouchy man can be. Here's SI's account of the road rage thing for anybody who hasn't read about it:

My father was at the IBHOF induction ceremony where he was enshrined, and tells me Jimmy was repeating himself during his speech. While recent photographs present the image of somebody in good physical condition for his age (especially considering what his family put him through), his mental state may no longer be ideal for conducting interviews.

Jake has been so outgoing and active in recent decades that I wouldn't blame him a bit if he's finally grown somewhat weary of it all. (His life has been something of a whirlwind since his biopic was released thirty years ago. He's earned a retirement from his retirement.)

Not only is he alive, but I hear Mayweather is thinking of fighting him to show he can beat him easier than Robinson did and prove he's the greater fighter. But only if Jake agrees to Floyd's drugtests. You never know about senior citizens. Also I heard that if Pac agrees to the drug tests, Mayweather then wants Pac checked to see if he is really a robot.

Here's a direct link for communicating regards to somebody who fought Louis, knocked out Moore and Marshall, and beat Maxim, Charles, Pastor, Burley, Soose, Lesnevich, Pastor, Bettina, and a slew of other household names going back more than 70 years. (Ain't the internet great?)

On the bonus features for Raging Bull there's some interviews with LaMotta. My favorite part was when he talked about seeing the film. He was taken aback. Afterwards, he asked his wife "Was I really that bad?" and she said "You were worse!"
