Doesn't work like that. PBF was P4P #1 when he fought Oscar but the fight was fought on Oscar's terms and not PBF's. PBF knew this and accepted the contract immediately. Why? Becasue he knew he was going to earn a career high payday and he knew he was more talented and better than Oscar. Pac should do the same but in his mind he feels he's the bigger draw eevn though he's clearly not.

How could he? Mayweather retired for two years. Thus relinquishing the crown.

Some good points. But in the end, doesn't it strike you as somewhat ludicrous that the fighter of the freakin' decade would be forced to accept the short end of the purse??

Fighter of the decade is irrelevant when talking about who the bigger draw is when it comes to negotiating purses. PPV sells is what they go by and PBF has beaten Pac clearly there.

so now you move away from p4p #1 without even a word, and you're going to cling to FOTD?

PPV sales are what the person who sells more, tries to go by.

Since when is that the sole determining factor?? PPV is a very recent development in the history of the sport of boxing. Are we willing to decide to throw everything else out the window and base absolutely everything on PPV $'s? **** like that is whats wrong with boxing nowadays.

even before PPV, the draw got the split (when they moved away from winner takes more type purses)...now you are just talking out of your ass

Don't you all see the futility of this discussion? It's got to the point where we're splitting hairs. They just need to fight and settle this in the ring. I know some of you feel the need to defend your fighter tooth and nail but surely any objective fan, given the epic revenue the fight will generate, sees 50/50 is the best way to get this done. When there's this much money, does it really matter besides being an ego thing?

But, things like one fighter being the fighter of the decade, were not (and still aren't) irrelevant to the discussion!
