Get ****ed jizzy lips. I bring up facts. You guys are the ones with the excuses. I simple state facts. Duran lost - FACT. Then in response a novel is written, making excuses for the loss and bending the fact completely, turning it into a win. ie. Hagler vs Duran

I've given this a lot of thought & have reached the conclusion after much soul searching that NO ONE can outfight the "High Priest of Violence"....NO ONE:bart

It seems that Mag is to Duran what Redrooster is to Leonard.

And your remarks about credibility are spot on.

Maybe Mag's cred and Body Head's cred eloped tgether. :yep

Are you serious? I am unaware of skin tone having an effect on assessments of fighters by the vast majority of posters I see in the classic section. I can think of quite a few dark skinned fighters who are thought to be amoung the best ever. I think that people give Duran a lot of credit for competing against some of the best ever at weight classes above his natural weight. He was also older and had gained weight the old fashioned way. Perhaps if you imagined Duran with darker skin you would see how great he was. I've seen more than one Mayweather praise Duran. If you don't see him as top 5 or 10, I don't think too many people would be up in arms, but you seem to completely dismiss him.

    brownpimp stated the following above:

Duran always gets favoured to beat guys like pryor, cervantes, or any other great fighter from that era outside of the fab 4. He lost to de jesus, i dont care what excuse people come up with, he was a beatable fighter. His lightweight title run was pretty weak compared to the guys that Carlos Ortiz had to fight. Duran is an overrated fighter, he beats 1 atg and now he's top 5 all time, **** that ****. I think the only reason people like him so much is cuz he's a lighter skinned fighter.

Duran is overrated. He is a great fighter, but his lightweight reign was not that great, and then he moved up and in his whole career beat one great fighter, who later beat him easily two times.

Has nothing at all to do with the topic. What's the deal with Duran anyway, it's not like people go to every Thomas Hearns topic to say he was overrated because he got knocked out by Barkley. You can't have a decent discussion about Duran without the usual suspects saying he was overrated, a quitter, couldn't handle boxers and never beat anybody but Leonard. It's getting tired and predictable at this point.

I honestly think Trinidad could beat him if they brawled and fought flat footed. If duran chose to outbox him, it would be a different story, but trinidad would probably beat him in a slugfest. However, the people on these boards that lust duran would never admit that.

This isn't Duran's prime weight. But at WW I actually pick Basilio against Duran on their best nights. I don't know why I just do...
