The best boxer in MMA is BJ Penn. ....says Freddie Roach.

yes, but there are always exceptions to the rule. bach was often forbidden to play his own unique style of music, but in the generation after his death he was much more appreciated.

Anderson Silva looks like a prime RJJ in the cage, but I think he got KOd by a Brazilian cab driver in boxing.

MMA is alright but I don't get the crowds - they boo when they take it to the ground and cheer when they get back to stand up fighting, why not just watch K1 or boxing if you're gonna do that?

I can't give UFC that much respect for this. Their best HW fighter was a former WWE wrestler. If a guy can come from a joke like the WWE and become the champ in less than a year and no one can touh him your sport is a joke and has no credibility or high level of skill. That **** wouldn't happen in boxing in a million years.

They feel it is in intrinsically inferior.

    Or limited.

In a way, I can understand.

If we try to make a fight as true as it can be (and of course this is open to debate: what is a fight anyway?) then we would not limited the use of body parts such as knees.

another problem is that people compare the sports by their effectiveness in street fighting.

They might be considered 'an art' but neither Boxing nor MMA are art.

    Also MMA blows!

On a different note, Tyson has mad respect for MMA.

So for all you Tyson lovers who bash MMA, take a second to think. You might hurt Mickeys feelings.

I can't find the interview at the minute, but he was in genuine awe and genuinely respected these athletes.

Anderson Silva tried boxing, and he's one of the best UFC guys. He came out at 1-1. He also wanted to try to box Roy Jones Jr, but Dana White was mad hating and refused to let it happen. If the boxing is good enough for Silva why isn't it good enough for the rest of the UFC?:huh

If you mean you find it boring, that is fair enough.

    Nothing thrills me like boxing.

boxing is a sport that has evolved over centuries, similar to fencing. the adjective of fencing is not to simulate an actual sword fight, the adjective is to be the more talented fencer. that's how the sport evolved.

You can't judge them all by one person.

I don't deny obvious points such as money prospects and the old apples and oranges cliche.

I think boxing fans are too uptight and insecure and it is hurting the sport.

Sometimes you need to let the baby have its bottle.

I wouldn't call Sir Elton an exception, and some of Bernie's lyrics were pure nonsense by his own admission.
