Sports that get more exposure in the UK than boxing that shouldn't

I would agree with you it makes more economic sense for the Tv companies to show a sport like darts . That said other than a football match a big fight is the only sport i'd go to watch at a friends house with a big group of my mates. We'd never get a few beers in and watch the dart or the F1 or the wimbeldon final or the rugby although individually we might all watch one or more of those sports .

 

A lot of people that hated Cricket before are getting turned on by this Twenty20 stuff. Its a lot more action packed and condensed to around 3 hours. Its huge in India apparentley.

Getting back on topic I would say Darts.

Anyway, I like cricket but the quality of the game is **** atm. It's not like before. I don't understand why F1 is so popular either. How boring is that ****. Darts get's a lot of coverage too. Can it really be that popular?

 

IPL is a lot of fun but 50 over cricket needs to be scrapped and groundstaff should get fined for producing shitty pitches that offer no help to bowlers. If it was up to me I would place a trampoline on the field instead of the pitches they have. No wonder grounds are empty. What a joke.

There's a lot of stuff wrong with boxing too and I can understand why people are turned off by it.

 

PDC Darts is growing in popularity all the time. They moved the world championship to Alexandra Palace and sell out every day there, the Premier League has been an amazing success in terms of ticket sales. TV-wise the Premier League events are always up there in the top ten of the weekly figures for sky sports channels and the World Championship final peaked over a million.

 

Absolutely. I only got into boxing when I was 21 and nobody I know is really into it so I had nobody to explain anything to me. I found it difficult to get my head round it all initially and to the casual fan it's largely disappointing and frustrating on the whole, I can understand why most people just **** it off and stick to watching the big PPV's now and again. There's a hell of a lot that needs sorting out before boxing can mass appeal in Britain

 

There is an absurd amount of cricket on TV especially on Sky.

 

Boxing does have the same opportunities. It has the opportunity to put together a product that the tv companies want to buy because it is value for money and viewers will want to watch it.

The most successful boxing on tv at the moment is Prizefighter (no coincidence from Barry Hearn who is also PDC chairman). That's a good example of doing that. But no-one else is doing it.

Super Six was an opportunity, but Hennessy blew it.

 

All these shitty sports get shown because their a lot cheaper to pick up than boxing and you know what your getting with them unlike boxing which can be a 20 sec main event.

 

the bbc are a disgrace not even showing the aba's. But are we to expect anything else from an organisation who used to pay jonathan ross, the arse sucking quim features with a disabled mouth, millions per year, to tell that fat **** ricky gervais that he is amazing every couple of months.
