when arenas are being packed all over the world?

I'm watching Lucas vs. Andrade, B- or c+ fighters at best. Fighting in Quebec, with the arena packed?

We see it all over the world: Europe, Asia, Latin America, North America. ****, even New Zealand was going crazy over Tua fighting that one dude a few years ago.

But people insist boxing is dead.

Just a thought that occured to me.

As far as I know, this "boxing is dead" bull**** has been going on since the first Ali/Chuvalo fight, probably before that, but I was to young to notice.

Not only is boxing not dead, but fighters are making alot more money than they were 5 years ago. ALOT MORE.

even a guy like Malignaggi made 400K fighting Amir Khan, who apparently made over 1 million.

Bute made 900K against Andrade who made about 300K.

the list goes on. The sport is not even close to dying.

They say its dying because only in the U.S. their aren't many heavyweight champions anymore like their used to be. People still love the excitement of one punch knockout power. I ask fans of other sports all the time why they don't watch boxing and they say that don't like matches where guys just throw punches the whole match and no one gets knocked out. If you could blame it on one boxer it would have to be mike tyson for that but he did bring a lot of people back to the sport in the late 80s and early 90s. A lot of people just don't understand the sport which is sad.

Only Americans are saying that because there are less American champs and boxing isn't shown on network TV like it was in the 80s. Boxing is probably more popular on a world scale than it ever was.

This, and it makes me sad. I wish i could talk more with people on the streets about the sport, I wish people cared.

I dont think its dead but its deffinitely not alive. Boxing use to be the event to go to or the must see ppv. I remember when Tyson, Chavez, DLH use to fight everyone would talk about it but now you only hear about boxing only on ESPN and MMA on every chanel.

    :good

The fact there is no Tyson like HW is the reason 95% of my friends have zero interest and the remaining 5% only know Pacman and Mayweather.

People have been saying that forever and can't stop saying it. Didn't everyone say boxing will die upon Tyson's retirement?, then Lewis, Holyfield, DLH and so on. Here's news for you, boxing always moves on. If it successfully moved on after the Muhammad Ali era then it can move on from ANYTHING. To add more, you all know what it produced right after Ali, the damn fabulous four.

Like they knew DLH, Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield and many before them that small casual % that you now will always know a certain someone as time goes. It has always been like this.

    It's mostly White America.
It's been saying boxing's dead ever since Jack Johnson.
There were even federal laws passed to try and kill the sport.

We've got a wee bit of an obsession in the US with heavyweights.
Casual fans' eyes tend to glaze over when anything under cruiser is brought up.

tru instead of pursuing promotion deals with ABC & FOX to show tha fight they go to HBO & Showtime where they make more money (the promoter, not the fighter) instead of getting nationwide exposure to the tv sets of the U.S. if anything the sport of boxing has become too ****in material, what happened to fighting for RESPECT, for Glory, when did it all come from money? Then you hav insecure great boxers thinkin the thing that makes them the G.O.A.T is that they sell the most PPV's
