I'm too much on the fence with this one. Cotto moving up to fight a bigger guy with good boxing skills and great feet after a couple of bad losses that no doubt took tread off the tires. But then again, Cotto seemed to be in a higher class than Foreman and who knows how much those losses really took out of him. Plus, he's got Manny Steward in his corner now. Tough for me to pick this one. Wouldn't want to bet on it.

I think cotto will win a decision in a close fight.

I hope Cotto, but I think Foreman will keep too much distance between them. This fight will possibly answer more questions about Foreman than it will Cotto though. If Cotto loses without it obviously being from cutting or swelling, it was a bad style match-up anyway at a new weight class and we won't know that much.

This is one of those fights where predicting the fight is murder, because Cotto's mental state, something we can't know, might be the defining factor.

From the viewpoint of a technical analysis of the footage I think a Cotto win is the right pick. He's an organised puncher with a superb jab, good body-work and decent in-fighting skills. Foreman is mobile enough to offset Cotto's advanatages in all these areas but the jab, however as the bigger man with this jab-and-grab style, he is likely to be vulnerable to Cotto in all these areas in a real fight.

Foreman is not capable of delivering the sort of beating a loaded Margarito or a primed Pacquiao dished out, so Cotto, proper Cotto, doesn't have to worry about being stopped.

Now? Cotto could be genuinely vulnerable both mentally and physically after taking these two sustained beatings. Stepping up to a new weight division under these circumstances can't be underestimated as a challange. But my gut says Cotto gets an arguable decision

I would so love to see Cotto get the win-if it's the right way and not some crappy score card- and then just go. Just go, be happy with his millions and his family. Just get the hell out of the sport and Arum's den. I doubt it'll happen but I'd like to believe your analysis is the one.

Good post. Your spot on here too, i can see Foreman frustrating Cotto early, but when Cotto will settle and finds his range, and win a unanimous (but close) decision.

I think Foreman will take the early rounds with his quicker feet, but slowly Cotto will begin to land his punches, and begin to break Foreman down...Unanimous dicision or Tko win for Cotto..

I can't believe that so many people who have never seen Foreman fight more than a couple of time are predicting a win for him. It's insane

It's no more insane than picking him to lose without having seen him more than a couple of times.

Hard fight to call, based on my opinion that Cotto will feel 154lbs in every way, including the difference in "punch".

Granted Foreman ain't a Banger, but still....

Cotto is gonna eat foremans food the same way he did Jennings. Cotto is not some slow plodded and has fought and defeated faster stronger and more skilled opponents. If I learned one thing about cotto after watching him all these years it's that he is very strong mentally and is always in tip top condittion. No ones what will happen for certain but ifthe past is any indication foreman is the type of fighter cotto destroys.

If Foreman can somehow hurt him, it is all downhill for Cotto at that point. At that point he might begin to dwell on his prior losses with Manny and Stone Hands. Since this is unlikely given Yuri's power, my vote is cotto winning a close UD. He will likely go to his bread and butter and land some great body shots, slowing foreman down enough in the later rounds which cotto will likely need.

I am curious as to what Steward can do with Cotto though.

No, Foreman isn't a banger and his punches will feel like a LW's on Cotto...
