In December of 2003, Don King put on a supercard that featured eight title fights in a number of weight classes, featuring several elite fighters and some other big names: Bernard Hopkins - William Joppy Cory Spinks - Ricardo Mayorga John Ruiz - Hasim Rahman Zab Judah - Jaime Rangel Travis Simms - Alejandro Garcia Rosendo Alvarez - Victor Burgos Wayne Braithwaite - Luis Andres Pineda Luis Alberto Perez - Felix Machado IF Mayweather-Pacquaio goes ahead in November (slightly better than 50 % probability, IMO) suggest a top-notch, yet realistic, five-fight undercard, one that would justify a $99.99 ppv. To start the ball rolling: Haye - Adamek Bute-Pavlik Berto-Mosley Marquez - Khan (at 140) John - Gamboa
man every single one of those fights you listed is a World Championship Boxing main event how much would that PPV cost?!?!
if i would have to pay 99.99 it would be something like Gamboa Vs Juanma Kahn Vs Maidana Bute Vs. Abraham Bradley Vs. Alexander Wladimir Klitschko Vs. Povietkin and then to top it off ****in Mayweather-Pac!!! OMG. greatest day of my life. Hahah but will never happen tho
Is this a Top Rank-GBP promotion? We're lucky if we get a championship undercard (135 and under) and a bunch of TR and GBP youngsters and up and comers in the opener.
Cholo Alvarez vs JCC Jr The cholos will love that fight. I know Alvarez will be on the undercard for sure.
Seven of the eight fights in the DEC 2003 card I mentioned in the OP were world title fights. And five of them could have been headliner events by themselves. So a mega-card is not impossible to pull off. The undercard I suggested does not contain any superfights, but rather, a few that ask ( and might perhaps answer) a few questions. Haye-Adamek Two former cruisers, each with one decent win at HW. Who should face the Klits next ? Bute-Pavlik Pav is done at MW. Does he have any goods at SMW ? How good is Bute, really ? Berto-Mosley Was Mosley old in his last fight, or did Floyd just make him look that way. A Shane victory would further boost PBF's standing. Marquez - Khan (at 140) JMM is long in the tooth, but still skilled. Can the young lion step up and risk his career path against the very skilled Mexican ? John - Gamboa John has a victory over Marquez, but did he really beat him ? Is Gamboa the real deal ?
Realistic? Are yous serious? This is the most unrealistic proposed undercard I have ever seen! I would LOVE to see it happen, but, I would also love to hit the lottery.
unfortunately going by Arum's recent tendencies we will get stuck with some bull**** like Chavez Jr vs Matt Vanda III as the supporting bout.
