Evander should keep fighting on. He can't retire now.

Just thought I'd make an original post instead of the boring crap we see here everyday.

But let's face it. He is going to go on no matter what anyone else thinks, so it is self-defeating to constantly moan about it. Evander may be palpably damaged neurologically, but so are lots of fighters. Evander is just a big name.

And the guy can still fight at the elite level. So really, what is the major problem? He beat Valuev in the eyes of many. Imagine if he was given the WBA and used Vitali to unify.

I think he has the talent to win rounds against the man, and Vitali is ready to fall apart.

So, it is unlikely to happen, but you never know.

Don't be so down on him.

On an unrelated note, the likes of Evan fields can perform like younger athletes due to the PEDs they take.

Evander had a great, overachieving career. Anything he does now in pursuit of the insane idea of being unified champion again hurts his legacy. And there are different degrees of neurological damage. Tommy Hearns slurs his speech but seems to be able to enjoy life. I don't want to see Evander ending up in worse shape than that.

I think he should keep fighting the C-B level guys until the Klits retire and then go for one of their vacant belts. He deserves another title, if not just for his persistance. He should really be champ right now. How they robbed the man against Valuev was an absolute disgrace. He was robbed against Ruiz in the rubber match as well. If justice had been served in any of those fights he probably would've retired having won another belt

Nope, he would've fought one of the Klitschkos and got his head beat in.
If Evander was happy just to grab one belt, any belt, and call it a day I wouldn't mind it so much.

But he wants to be undisputed, he's said so many times in recent years and he won't just go with one.

Holyfield should retire, that's always been my stance and I'm sticking to it.

Evander is already badly damaged. Even people who seem fine can be badly damaged, so when it is noticeable to a non-neurologist you can call them brain damaged.

Nevertheless, Evander was never too fond of his Brain and was happy with boxing and a Bible and ****ing women.

Evander will end up in even worse shape. But we can't stop it.

So, let's hope he does well.

And about his legacy? I thought we excused shot fighters?

    Did they change the rules?

Unfortunately, he is not fighting for a 5th title like he claims, he is fighting for money. Even if he'd been given the verdict over Valuev he'd still be here today fighting. Such a shame that a lot of these great fighters can't manage their money.

I don't know what the story is with his money.

But I am sure he is not sure what he is doing and why.

Again, we may as well route for him.

Remember, this is boxing. Fighters get damaged all the time but you don't always see it.

Evander may have been Great, but does that warrant him special treatment on a moral level? I don't think it does.

Fighters fight, as they said in that awful Rocky movie.

And what about holding his own against Valuev?

When Haye beat him it was "proof" of his potential to be unified champ.

And don't diss The White Buffalo. He is one badass old man.

It's like those guys that are old and keep working...just to keep the machine going...to keep the bearings oiled and engine running..batteries in check.

some people fear retirement... they see it as an end.

My father retired from the F.D.N.Y some years back... he still does roofing and still builds on his house. He even put up a hammock one time...that i knew he would never lay down on.

Some people have that drive to keep doing great things for their own self... while everyone is saying..."relax...take a seat"

Lets give Holyfield one last chance at glory. Give him one last title shot against a major beltholder with a disclaimer saying you lose, you must retire.

Only if the belt holder is a Klitschko.

But when has that' lose and retire' thing ever worked? Fighters retire if they want to and don't if they don't want to, or can't.
