adamek had his big fight this year, like he has every year. he's also fought two tough 12 rounders. who cares if he's fighting michael grant? it'll obviously be an interesting exercise, due to grant's height. an opponent like grant won't get paid much, so when adamek draws a big crowd to the prudential center, he'll probably make a nice payday. the win over arreola, which has turned adamek into a legit contender, may have increased his selling power in newark. grant clearly makes sense regarding polish TV, because of the grant-golota fight. the fight "makes sense" bsically, without being a hardcore fan fight. michael grant IS worse than audley harrison, though. harrison won something recently, the EBU title in a spectacular KO. and he won the popular Prize Fighter show. audley has drawn big #s on british TV (sky sports) and so haye vs audley also "makes sense" as it'll draw a big crowd, and massive PPV figures. some ppl seem to resent haye for having lucrative options.
Due to Grant's so so chin, this will also be a good test to see if Adamek brought his power up with him. Lot's of people have already concluded that he didn't, but based on who he didn't KD (Estrada, Arreola) that conclusion is premature imo.
Two things... First, Adamek didn't need Arreola to sell in Newark. Second, people don't resent Haye for his options, they resent him for his trash talking, then running away.
Another thing is that when you're a champ, you're expected to at least make an attempt to take on some of the top contenders and of course, you're allowed a freebie like Harisson as a reward. But Haye has not done this. There's no doubt in my mind that had Haye agreed to fight Adamek, this fight with Grant would not be taking place.
I heard his wife is expecting. Whatever, I think everyone is tired of it. Adamek is wasting prime time fighting left overs.
We don't know exactly what he's doing or thinking but yes, he is marketing himself... unfortunately walking away as well.
Haye does not want to fight Vitali, Vlad or Adamek. He will avoid Chagaev as well. Boytsov would knock Haye out. Chambers would beat Haye, so would Arreola and many others. Haye will fight Audley Harrison, then get some boxers to come out of retirement after 50 years.
Grant is a dangerous opponent for Adamek, because of his size and power. However Adamek is a smart one and will find a way to neutralize it. The difference in speed should be enormous. I read on polish site that Eddie Mustafa Muhammed is a trainer of Grant. The same guy was in the Dawson's corner in Adamek fight.
Good points. I don't mind the fight as long as Adamek follows it up with something bigger in the following fight. It is good prep for the Klitschko brothers.
haye is a quality big man with great handspeed and startling power who has beaten plenty of top 10 fighters (gurov, macca, fragomeni, mormeck and valuev). haye has alienated many regarding the klitschko negotiations, but he would not have got paid because the TV company had gone bankrupt, so who is going to fight for no money? no wonder he had a sudden back injury...but what is to suggest that he would avoid chagaev (not much better than ruiz, if we're beign honest) other than for fear of catching hepatitis? do not forget - haye has the WBA title, something adamek wants badly. don't take for granted that adamek will win it. haye wants VITALI, not wlad. right now he can make more money fighting audley harrison, than adamek could make vs michael grant or evander holyfield.
