Any of those mentioned will have a short career on 147. The current 147 has monsters.

I agree. All solid dudes, but 147 is a tough row to hoe for those guys.

All of these guys except maybe Bradley have the frame to fight at 147. Ortiz, Alexander, Maidana, and Khan are all about the same size or bigger than both Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Khan and Alexander I think could both be successful fighting at 147 down the road.

Although Bradley's fighting as a welter in his next outing, he's probably too small with too little punching power to be viable against the top 147lbers.

I don't want to jump on the Khan bandwagon just yet, first lets see him against Maidana.

I do think that Devon Alexander would probably make the best transition.

Bradley has the talent but he's small so he'd have to be real selective in his match making, At one point I considered the possibility of whether or not he'd be able to pull it off but the more and more I think about it; 147 has monsters.

Khan judging from the Malinaggi fight may have the goods but lets see him take a punch first.

I agree here. But most of the guys u mentioned have them "suspected" chins. And the current row of fighter in 147 has all the tools to exploit it. Can't fight those guys if you have that kind of weakness already exposed.

Zab Judah and Miguel Cotto both had suspect chins at 140 and went on to have success at 147. Tito had a suspect chin at 147 and went on to have success at 154 and 160. Khan showed a glass jaw at 135 and is now a champ at 140. Just because you get hurt or even knocked out at a particular weight class doesn't mean you can't move up in weight and have success.

I suspect Khan's best weight might be 147lbs once he settles into it. Maybe in two years or so.

I don't know where Zab "succeeded" at 147 when everytime he steps up against an elite fighter he just crumbles. KOed against Cotto ( after ****in Cotto smashed his balls). I don't know where the success part was.

Cotto had 1 great win against Mosely(the best in his resume IMO) but ran in the later rounds. Got beaten by Margo and Pac. IMO his wins in 147 are slightly overrated.

Khan? After prescott who's he fought? I like the guy, but beating a feather fisted malignaggi is not even worth mentioning besides the top welters.

Just imagine Ortiz,Maidana,Khan,Bradley against May, Pac , Margo or even Mosely or Berto. JMO.

He was the undisputed WW champ. I know in ESB world, people like to repeat the same things over and over again. However, being the undisputed champ would be considered having success to most boxing fans.

He was a 2x champ at 147. He beat Mosley, Judah, and Quintana. That's having success. He beat better guys at 147 than he did at 140 and won won more world titles at 147 as well. I don't see how Cotto didn't have success at 147.

Khan is the WBA world champ and is ranked by pretty much everyone as a top 3 JWW. That's having success.

The question posed was whether or not the big names at 140 are big enought to fight at 147. The answer is clearly yes for most of them. It may take a couple of years, but many of them will eventually, move up to 147. Pacquiao and Mayweather are special fighter. Not many guys can beat them period. The guys at 140 not being able to beat them has nothing to do with size. Mago doesn't even fight at 147 anymore and Shane is 1 or 2 fights away from retirement. I don't see why the top dogs at 140 couldn've eventually be able to compete with Berto.
