Wilton is back out at the start of July, we had 2 boxers fighting on Saturday there, Brian Cussack and Phil Townley. Cussack won again with a KO, Townley lost on points but managed 2 KDs (second ruled a slip). We had been hoping to run a show in late June but seeing as Luke now has a fight schedule laid out we are having to work around that. Hopefully we can get another show scheduled for late August early September and get the guys out again. We are keen to keep Paul Kayes busy with fights. I'm sure the fans would love to see Ryan Greene out again soon too. Really a local show is dependant on how often the guys are boxing in England etc. Also (you might be able to help) we could do with a bigger venue, holiday Inn is now too small though the Ulster Hall etc are too big. We need something in the middle about 600-750 capacity with a ring errected. Any ideas ?
Gareth, probably an upstairs function room in the Europa - they can put in a mobile bar plus there is a bar just outside the room too. I have been in functions in this room and they are a good size and I reckon should accommodate the numbers you are aiming for:good
Does Choi wear all that gear when he goes into sparring? I'd say hes a mad auld **** all the same Another song. Nowhere to Run by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas
What about in a carribean strap match? loosers have to leave town? also is there any chance of having prunty in your entourage? He could jump the rope
Allirght Lads, I think a classic song to come out to would be The Phantom of the Opera by Iron Maiden. Anyone remember it from the Lucozade ad's in the 80's. Classic Stuff. I think it was Daley Thompson they used. Fire Starter from the prodigy might not be bad if your more of a 90's fan or for modern day I think Da Punk - Robot Rock is another good tune. And finally - 2 classics from the 70s & 60's The doors - Roadhouse Blues and Jimi Hendrix - Voodo Child. any one of them bound to set a great atmosphere I guarantee
for pure atmosphere if your going rock for me it have to be fear of the dark [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28GaKoCuobU[/ame] or kashmir [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfR_HWMzgyc[/ame]
On another thread its reported that the WBO are about to strip Martinez of his Middleweight title which will leave it vacant (obviously)surely one of our three must be in the shake up to fight for the vacant crown.Maybe Duddy versus Junior could be bumped up.
They use to hold The Ulster Juniors championships in there, a few years back. I can't remember why they stopped, but it would be ideal venue for an Belfast Promotion show. IRISH BOXERS FIT FOR EURO CHAMPIONSHIPS http://www.rte.ie/sport/boxing/2010/0601/boxing.html
The PEC or Whitla Hall at Queens would fit that bill sizewise. The conference centre at the Kings Hall (dont know how big that is). The new Lyric theatre might also be a goer when it opens.
It would be perfect for our culchie southern brothers too as it is right next door to the train and bus terminal:good
