Yep! Go to the link on the sticky thread right here in the General Forum.

I asked him about the fight itself and asked why there was no rematch. I could have asked him questions all day about that fight, but didn't want to over focus on that one fight.

He must be more relaxed with life knowing there are no more high pressure fights on the horizon.

    Unfortunately...:|

Here's my take on Golota. He was a good boxer but not a great one. It seems that in the Bowe fights he ran out of steam and knew that he was going to get knocked out so he fouled. He hit Bowe with everything and yet it was not enough. Golota did have text book skills but was short on power, stamina in later rounds, and that killer instinct that all the greats possessed. Here's a video of Golota at the 1988 Olympics http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=golota+olypmics&aq=f . He lost to a bum. Had Lewis fought in the heavy weight instead of the super heavy weight weight class he would have destroyed Golota. Bottom line is Andrew Golota was an over achiever. He got further in boxing than his natural ability and talent would've predicted. This is why he lost all the fights that mattered.

Bowe was never as good as you think. Sure the battles with Holyfield were great but Holy was a small heavy weight. See what happened to Bowe at the Olympics when he fought Lewis. He was exposed.

No question about it Rums. That explains why Golota looked like utter **** against both Orlin Norris and Tyson while being trained by Al Certo. I remember in the Tyson fight Certo's great advice was "throw that right ****in' hand!!" :-( Duva and Bloodworth would have better prepared Golota for the Tyson fight. But after the quit job against Grant and the Lewis debacle, they had about enough of Golota. I think Sam did about as good a job as anyone could have done with a 35-41 year old version of Golota. He just didnt age well at all, especially with that injured left arm. But still should have recieved at least one if not both titles from Byrd and Ruiz, amazingly enough. :bbb

Golota's always had good stamina, especially in his prime. He was still pounding the **** out of Bowe just before both DQs so I disagree with you on that point. He simply lost his mental focus (what little he ever had) and did something stupid.

I do agree with you that Golota wasnt the most powerful of HWs. He never had the kind of KO power that Lewis, Tyson, Wlad had. Although he did have good power, but usually just enough to knock guys down, not knock them out. Had Golota had more power he would have finished Bowe, Grant, Ruiz, Byrd.

The Olympics were one thing. Bowe grew in to one hell of a HW fighter. Remember, Holyfield went on to beat a prime Tyson just after getting knocked out by Bowe. I'm not saying Bowe was better than Lewis. In fact I think Lewis would have probably beatin' Bowe had they fought. But one should not downplay Bowe's greatness either to try and discredit Golota. Bowe wasnt recognized as number one by most boxing expects at the time he fought Golota for nothing. :nono
