Could Khan not find anyone else, other than a shot Casamayor?

prescott isnt even ranked as a LWW, he isnt even ranked in the top 20 as a LW for heavens sake... so why should khan call him out at the risk of getting caught again? doesnt make political sense!!

He may be an old. He may be semi-retired. He may be a lightweight. But he's still Casamayor, he's still in with a chance.

I've considered that point, but I do think he's beyond that point of having to learn off experienced veterans. He's better off developing himself against young and aggressive opponents, who whilst having decent pop, aren't that threatening enough to pull off an upset.

But then again, I'm not a trainer or a promoter. There must be a sound reason (like the one you've just put forth) for Roach choosing a Casamayor. I'm just a little worried that the inactivity and age, will make a non-competitive fight

Casa's at a stylistic disadvantage, because of Khan's quick hands and swift movement in-and-out. He won't win on points, but I wouldn't rule out a devastating one-punch stoppage, ala Katsidis.

I expect Casa to pull that move in that picture.

He's already claiming that he'll knock Khan out dead. Guess it'll be his last big payday.

I know Khan's chin is terrible, but do you think Casa's power will carry up that well to 140?

I think its a fair opponent better than Nate Campbell he is a name on the record might pose some stylistic problems for Khan give him a bit more confidence. Not a great fight but not a bad one considering the time constraints and the fact other fighters int he division are tied up.

then theres the other thing about goldenboy protecting their young fighter in the hope of him being a future ppv superstar. i think its a bit of both really.... roach picking out experrienced, over the hill veterans with a name, and goldenboy protecting him to death.

He's only been with GBP for one fight, it's a little early to accuse them of protecting him. Now if he was still with Frank Warren, then fair enough. Which is another thing I don't quite get, people were barking at him to leave the over-protective Frank Warren, and pursue braver path. You can't get much braver than packing and leaving for the US at only 23, and setting out on a mission to take over the most competitive division in boxing.

He's only had one fight so far in the US, give him a little more time.

What kind of offer did they make Katsidis? They also claimed they were going after Maidana. I guess they figured that the fans forgot that Maidana pulled out of a late July fight with Bradley because of a back injury and surely wouldn't be available to fight Khan.

Maybe they can dig Valero's corpse up and make that fight as the main event for Khan as a lesson in risk management for GBP's new glass chinned wonder.

I may be mistaken, but I think they offered Katsidis £400,000.

The choice of Casa as an opponent, does not kill their intentions of fighting Maidana. You're forgetting that this is just a stay busy fight; thus rendering it unworthy for a Maidana scale fight. This fight (Maidana) will instead be slotted in at the appropriate time it deserves, where it can be marketed and promoted the way it should be. The same applies to Alexander vs Bradley. Why rush these highly anticipated fights? People are acting as though these fights will never happen.
