It wouldn't put him on SRRs level. However, if he beat Martinez and then said he was better than Robinson, he would be taken more seriously. Martinez is a very tough matchup for Mayweather stylistically. Going up two weight classes and beating a guy like that is a hell of an accomplishment.
Martinez has dimensions that Pac does not. I think he would be more difficult for Mayweather... in many ways. Not to say that pac does not have his chance, but Martinez seems like a reach.
That's exactly how I see it. I got to believe that is how Mayweather will see it to...he couldn't do 155 comfortably, but in 2010 you got to believe he could do it...i really hope this is for real. Maybe if Mayweather beats Pacquiao this could happen anyway. Please God just let Martinez take whatever is suggested at this feeling out stage so Mayweather doesn't feel like he doesn't want to go back to that table should he beat Pacquiao.
Maravilla is after the money like any other would do when receiving offers from 'Money' himself. Mayweather is after stardom at this point and maybe deservedly so. I think Floyd has done what he ought to do to secure his legacy so anything else means getting payed richly. Pacquiao sould be the one pushing for that fight even tho I agree not at any price, just according to official commissions and standard tests. I personally feel Martinez would beat Margarito at either 154 or 160 pounds but he would have a problem to adjust to and stealing rounds from Floyd. Pacquiao still is the biggest threat to Floyd's untarnished resumé - has the handspeed, has the consistency and conditioning, has the power to shake his defensive shield and has the mental edge to have Floyd more skeptic than usual. I bet Floyd fights Pac in December and meets Martinez or whoever is there at 160 next year.
Can Pacquiao beat Martinez or Paul Williams???? Or is Floyd the only man we can see beating those guys between the two?
no belts are on the line if you fight at a catchweight, a MW bout for a MW title has to be fought at 160
