Name some of the worst fights you have ever seen

I remember watching Marlon Starling take on Michael Nunn around 1990 or so... I saw it live on HBO.. Starling at that point, was a veteran welter weight champ, moving up to face Nunn who was the IBF middle weight titlist. It was quite possibly the most boring fight I ever watched.. Both guys did a fair amount of clowning, and some of the pitter patter shots they were throwing seemed to have less snap than pillow fights that I've seen between college sorority girls. Nunn ultimately took the decision, but by that point, I don't think anyone in the crowd or at home watching on television cared.....

 

Dirrell - Stevens

Watched it once, and only once. you could not pay me enough to watch it again.

 

Hopkins fights in general.

 

..except Pavlik, Calzaghe, Tarver, Trinidad, Jones I, and Johnson.

Those are all a far cry from Ornelas, Wright, Taylor I and II, and Jones II.

Most everything else falls in between.

 

Williams/McDermott

 

Wlad Klitschko vs Chambers was terrible, I hate when 1 fighter dosent even give it a shot.


Also Kid Gavilan vs Johnny Saxton, the only boring Gavilan fight on film and an utter robbery. Seriously the judges probably fell asleep mid-way through the fight.

 

Hey, the first one was pretty fun with a good finish.

The second one...yeah...

 

Yeah what an absolute disgrace Nelson was that night, talk about being paralysed with fear & especially after all the pre-fight verballs about what he was going to do ect. Like you "I wish i did'nt remember it" but this shocker still comes up 1st for me everytime:dead

 

Luevano - Dib was truly horrific as was Williams vs Harrison I. I've seen a bit of Dirrell vs Stevens and that is also very very bad. Some good mentions here!

 

Corbett v. Fitzsimmons

 

My nomination, the Corro-Antuofermo "fight" was easily the worst of all that have been mentioned here. Not only were there no knockdowns, there were virtually no solid punches landed and only one man was fighting for thr last 5 or 6 rounds, and the "fighting" before that was forgettable..and to top it all off, it went the full 15 rounds.

 

Mediocre fight, not a terrible one.

 

I thought this was considered to be a fixed fight. Maybe Gavilan knew he wasn't going to get a decision no matter what happened and phoned it in.

 

Definitly a fix, but a purely terrible - fight fix or no fix.

 

You must be a big fan of the underappreciated art of clinching.

I thought Ellis vs Quarry was really dull. Maybe the only really boring Quarry fight ever.
