Bernd Bonte: Haye offered 50-50 purse split with NO options!!!

    It looks more and more likely that heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko will next face mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin instead of David Haye in a unification bout, Klitschko manager Bernd Boente told ESPN.com. Klitschko, as well as fellow titleholder and brother Vitali Klitschko, wants to fight Haye, who has trash-talked both of them for ages. Boente said they offered Haye a 50-50 deal to fight Wladimir in the fall without asking for options on any future Haye bouts. That is a major improvement over past offers, which included less than 50-50 and multiple options. Boente said the latest offer proves how much Klitschko wants to get Haye into the ring. "But we do not hear anything back from Haye or [manager] Adam Booth. All of a sudden Haye is very quiet now after doing all of that talking about fighting," Boente said. He said if they can't close a deal with Haye, Klitschko will face Povetkin whether they can negotiate terms or go to a purse bid.

    There is no mention of an official contract offer. So, frankly - bollocks till there is.

    Was a huge haye fan for a number of years..BUT unless he fights one of the sisters next im gone.
    He mouths off about them/pulls outs of fights(rightly or wrongly) and then gets offered 50-50 and still looks to be ducking!
    If he ends up fighting audley or chagaev instead of vitali or even wlad hes a damn right fraud in my book....

    *i bet after saying this they strike a deal on monday!!* haha

    Where exactly does it say that Haye has declined the offer? Pretty misleading title

    All Bonte says is Hayes team has not got back to him. As an above poster mentions I think its clear Haye is going after Vitali first, which is the right move for him to make.

    why is it the right move. Wladamir is recognised by 95% of fans as the true Heavyweight Champions and a tougher fight than his Brother.

    Ya I've cut Haye a lot of slack, thought he would be great for the HW division.

    But ... it's looking pretty bad.

    Why would Booth respond to speculation? This is the exact same as the Klits' manager saying they were prepared to offer 50-50 but not showing a contract, a formal offer made or that Haye or Booth had even seen the offer.

    Booth not replying is not the same as Booth rejecting an offer.

    I'm not defending either party - both have been idiots: the Klits for the slave-wages contract and Haye for pulling out of two fights in a row.

    Anyway, this makes no sense: Haye's not negotiating to fight ANYONE right now.

    Well you answered your own question there. Vitali is the easier and more winnable fight. 95% of fans also know Haye will probably lose to Wlad. Both Wlad and Vitali would generate similar income for Haye so he might as well take the easier fight.

    Haye-Wlad would be twice as mega if Haye had beaten Vitali

    Haye's camp are doing the right thing and doing the business behind closed doors. It makes you wonder why Vlad's manager has had to come out and say this, unless of course it's to make Haye look bad again in the press and trying to put pressure on him to sign for the fight with poor contract terms.

    The Klitschko camp realise that Haye is seen as the one stalling. They could effictively offer him 10% and then come out in the press and say they offered him 90%.
