Id say Lamotta hes naturally the much bigger guy, however dont sell ODLH short here hes very competetive and does a lot better here than most of you think. The late rounds is where Lamotta puts it on him.
The problem is, we're talking about one of the roughest and meanest middleweights of all time...and DLH didn't exactly fare well in his adventures at 160. Bernard made him **** his pants, and B-level Sturm (who is far more civilized and gentle in the ring than the Bull) beat him in the eyes of many.
Oscar didn't really have an identity at middleweight to me, so this match isn't really that fair. H2H Oscar is a very good guy for matches in lower weight classes though, imo. This would possible be an awful fight to put Oscar in. Especially if it were a 15 rounder.
OK that was one of his two fights(he came in unprepared) when the real Oscar didnt show up. Many fighters have been forgiven for not being in shape. Oscar would have beat Sturm somewhat convincingly had he even come in at 154,155 and took the fight serious, Oscar was only 70% for that fight. The ODLH that fought Hopkins would have decisioned Sturm by convincing but competetive decision. Are you referring to the rumor that ODLH had to take a **** when he fought Hopkins:huh
People are assuming Oscar is too small to compete but Lamotta had close fights with men the same size or smaller, obviously theres the 2 143lb/144lb fights with Robinson, then theres 4-5fights with 149lb Zivic, Holman Williams was a naturally smaller manner 34yo with 170+ fights when he gave Lamotta. So no I don't think the size will overwhelm Oscar at all. The version of Oscar I would put in with Lamotta would the 1 who fought Vargas, this version rehydrated to well over 160lbs as it was So as for the fight, the nearest opponent to Oscar Lamotta has faced is Robinson, no I am not saying Oscar's as good but Oscar's speed of hand, height and movement will trouble Lamotta much the same way. Oscar himself fought Vargas, who put in a very similar gameplan with his pressure and timing punches and working the body. Ofcourse Vargas doesn't fight out of the crouch being taller and his chin isn't nearly as good Oscar doesn't like it to the body and Lamotta's body attack would hurt him and take the wind out of him down the stretch. Against Vargas and Mosley he pulled his cup very high to protect his body, being allowed to do this and being allowed to pick a bigger ring would give him massive advantages. Vargas was slower but able to time Delahoya with barages of punches much the same way Lamotta timed Robinson Overall I see it as a close back and forth fight that goes the distance, I don't see any chance of either man stopping the other. And see it being a close decision either way, maybe controversal. Sacreligious to make this pick around here but it seems to make the most sense
