You've never heard Roy commentating? He did Barrera/Morales III, Barrera/Mckinney, Gatti/Rodriguez, Gatti/Robinson I, Ibeabuchi/Byrd, and a whole host of other Boxing After Dark shows during the 1990s. He's very good.
I'm sure I have, I just don't recall it. I generally don't take much notice of who is commentating. If you asked me to name a fight in which Foreman, Tarver, Lewis were commentating I probably couldn't even tell you.
Hmmm...strange. Foreman: Barrera/Hamed, Trinidad/Hopkins, Barrera/Tapia, Jones/Ruiz Tarver: Froch/Dirrell, pretty much all the Super Six Stuff Lewis: Juan Diaz/Paulie Malignaggi I Can't really remember to many of Lewis myself.
Protecting your brain cells from the effects of paying attention to most commentators is probably the wise thing. I wish I'd done that in my life. Smart man, Tommy. Smart, smart man. Although what I remember of Roy was that he was surprisingly decent.

Well given the fact I've learned nothing new about boxing from Foreman the entire 10 years he was on HBO, I'd say it's accurate statement. I probably don't know as much about boxing as Foreman the same why I don't know as much about football as Madden. The point is all they both do is say the painfully obvious. Foreman's job is to give an expert's anaylist of a fight, which is something he almost never did (that or it was incomprehensible). The play by play action was Lampley's. I've said once and I'll say a million more times, as far expert anaylist goes Roy Jones Jr is light years ahead of Foreman. He could give solid explanation of why a fight was developing the way it was that the average boxing enthusiest may not have picked up on. The closest Foreman ever came to that was talking about DLH's big shoulders.
i loved roy arguing with merchant in pacquiao morales 1 roy: "pacquiao is gettin beat bad" merchant: "i think your over reacting" roy: "youve never fought before you wouldnt understand whats going on in here" lol
Foreman was better than Roy. Roy is better than Tarver and better than anyone HBO has on staff now. I would keep Lampley simply because he is normally a smooth and professional broadcaster. The whole ship might go down if he wasn't there to direct traffic for the rest of the senility on staff. Seward is good also as long as he keeps his vast personal interests out of his commentating(usually impossible).
I think Ray Leonard did the best job............... Ray never went off and barked or said insane things like "Foreman, Jones or Steward" has.......... Lennox Lewis is not a colorful talker, but I at least liked him on the set of HBO....... I liked Gil Clancy when he was younger and of sound mind and body......... As of late, Gil Clancy sounds senile and looks frail.......... However, he is upward of 86 yrs of age for Christ sake....... MR.BILL
