Floyd is extremely athletically gifted he has a brilliant defence that is complemented by his sharp reflexes and his crisp counter punching which he displays with perfect accuracy and timing. As he is fighter that relies on his natural athleticism how many years would he have to fight on and at what age would you predict that his skills/reflexes would diminish enough for him to suffer an RJJ style knockout/loss or would his skillset allow him to fight on competetively for many years to come like Hopkins??

Mayweather does not have a wet toilet paper Chin like Jones does so never. Jones has an abysmal Glass Jaw and is scared to take a punch.

I don't see Floyd lossing like that, because RJJ broke alot of rules and payed dearly for it once his natural abilities faded away. Floyd has used his abilities to inhance the fundamentals of fighting as oppsed RJJ who relied far more heavily on his atheletism. The funny thing is nobody know more about boxing than RJJ, his ego was just so big he couldn't take his own advice.

A few years longer given he has an excellent guard and good inside and survival skills aswell, which Roy didn't have.

if he wont retire again and fight the best out there then id say 5yrs of war will worn his body out and his reflexes gone.

I would agree Floyd probably has a much better chin so maybe the question should be more how long until he is an RJJ level fighter and start losing decisions to the tops guys on a regularish basis

Floyd's fundamentals are very sound; thus not relying entirely on his natural athleticism. He's one of those people who will retire at exactly the right time, and not even entertain the thought of fighting to a point where he'll lose to guys that are inferior to him.

But if it does get to that unlikely stage where he's still fighting at a time where his speed reflexes have gone, he'll have his sound boxing skills (and intelligence) to fall back on. You never lose those attributes. Expect him to do what B-Hop has done in his latter years - be very resourceful, and break fighters down with a frustrating defence, great counterpunching, and overall skill and experience.

    - I think Mayweather also came up the weights slowly - meaning his body not been subjected what Roy Jones had to do for the John Ruiz fight (where he had to put on 25lb and then lose those pounds for the Tarver/Johnson fights. I think this had something major to do with Jones' deterioration.

    - Moreover, if you learn the basics - you can always manipulate your skills. You can always find a way to succeed. It is bloody important to learn the basics.

    - Mayweather learned the basics - meaning as his legs go he'll probably find other ways of managing his opponents.

    - He could go on for another five years with two fights a year.

So does anybodyy think that Floyd could fight the top welter whoever that may be in 10 years time and win? As we all seem to agree he would at least be competetive

I don't know if he's similar to Grandpa Bernard.

I think he'll make a permanent move up to 154 after he beats pac as they're the only two great fighters @ 147. 154 currently has all the real killers: Martinez, Williams, Margacheato, and Cotto. By the time the top 140'ers start beating on each other to determine whose THE man to come out of the heap, pac will already be beat by Floyd. If that top 140'er wants a piece they can clean out 147 then move to 154.
