I'm not calling out Manny, Manny is an all-time favorite of mine too but I honestly have to question your logic here because it's way off. Sloppy?, he can be sloppy like Cotto can be sloppy sometimes and he can also be sharp like Cotto can be. Who has the advantage?, obviously Williams with his reach and height. Who has the advantage in punch resistance?, CLEARLY Williams, who has the advantage in stamina?, clearly Williams. You SERIOUSLY want examples?, if you do watch more of their fights.
Williams has shown weaknesses against guys who try and "box" with him... Whether short or talll doesn't matter.. Why??? Cause Willy doesn't fight like a big man... He's there to get broken down.... A poor man Hearns...
Williams has to cheat to win. He counts on his criminal judges. Martinez beat the crap out of him. Margarito beat Williams into a bloody mess.
I think Cotto can take Williams, especially after I saw him against Cintron. But let's not rush it, Cotto had a great night tonight
U call dropping someone with a body shot barely? Thats ownage where I come from. I think now with Stewart in his corner the sky is the limit for Cotto. Stewart is gonna bring out a side of Cotto yall never even thought was possible.
cotto is one of my favorite fighters as is williams. i love to break NBA's balls with the ole cotto ko1 williams w/ a viscious left to the liver line...but it won't happen. williams is there to be hit but the dude dishes it out as well. he will overwhelm cotto the same way he overwhelms everyone at that weight. cotto's only hope is to get williams outta there early which i'm not sure he can do. if it goes past 5 cotto is ****ed b/c williams won't stop. and in all honesty if williams would use his god given ability AND box correctly he shouldnt lose to anyone at 147-160 (pavlik being at 168.) no one at these weights can survive 12 rounds of williams' workrate and i've seen nothing out of anyone at those weights to inidicate to me that they can stop him. i will say that cotto's body attack would give him a better chance than most against pwilly, but still.....aint gonna happen.
Good call.... But no matter how you call it, Willy is sloppy.. He misses punches, lunges, charges... He just is wide open for counters all day... It's his style...Either he stops throwing or he leaves himself open... He's really not a good boxer.. he can't judge distance, and he can't fight an aggressive economical fight... Meaning he's gonna miss most of his shots against a skilled boxer/puncher..
williams, god love him, also cannot fight tall and use his reach. this is why i say cotto's body attack would give him a better chance against williams than a lot of other people. he is sloppy, he misses punches, and leaves himself wiiiiiiiide open a lot. however, cotto hasnt shown a lot of ability above 140 to get a guy with a good chin outta there with a head shot. so, i feel his only shot is to break willy down with his left hook to the body and hopefully the head will fall. i'm just not sure he can do that with a torrent of shots coming at him. but i've been saying for a looooong time that this fight would be inevitable once cotto won this fight. so hopefully, we will see :good
Yea you're dead on with what I was thinking.. Cotto is strong but really left his KO power back at 140.. This can really be a great fight... Man I hope it happens.
the thing is, cotto cannot...and i repeat CANNOT...get sucked into fighting another pressure fighter with a sturdy beard the way he fought margo. cotto was boxing perfectly to the head (no body shots) but was fighting either going backwards or sliding off the ropes so his shots lost pop which is what happens when you arent coming forward and throwing. if he can learn to come forward against a guy like williams, tie up when he needs to, and tear away at his body he has a shot. but if he lets williams come forward and dictate pace he is in a very disadvantageous position just as he was against margo despite his landing shots.
lol... Why can't the guy learn to hold on... Cotto's style is boxer puncher.... Everyone learns to grapple, Why hasn't Cotto? This could be the key element to beating these pressure fighters.... Could Steward possibly teach this??
