Check Alexei Lezin's and Felix Savon's amateur records.
Lezin was 1:1 againt Vitaly , 1:2 against Wlad , 1:0 against Valuev , 1:0 against Whitaker , 2:0 against Dominick Guinn (?) and also won and sometimes lost against many others , he was stopped by Audley , but Audley went on to win a gold medal didn't he ?
Savon beat about half of the 90's and early 2000s top contenders in the amateurs.
But Gonzalez's set is about as impressive.
And regarding such lists in general , stoppages must be separated from decisions , both in wins and in losses.

i've seen bad training but the dude did nothing to prepare himself. i've seen business women in gyms give more effort thought it would just be passed to him on a platter. knocked out bowe with an amazing right hand in the ama's. great 7 year wait response form bowe though. destroyed him.

dont think he had that bad a chin just **** poor defence and a lack of spark or enthusiasm to get out of the way.

anyone seen the fight agaisnt snipes. dickhead of the highest order.

They had some good wins in the amateurs. Felix Savon is another one and T.Stevenson has quite a resume, ruining Big stars John Tate and Duane Bobick and many other Americans.

3 rds are different for certain amateur styles and some guys are not suited for the Pro's or stay too long in the amateurs. Gonzales did not have a good pro corner and was not always the best conditioned fighter. Payne is a weird story but Tyson although much heralded was a under 200lb fighter in the amateurs and I remember Henry Tillman ( yes Tillman beating him in the unpaid ranks.

Tillman beat him twice in the amatuers and was destroyed in a round in the pros.

They way 5"10 Texas White Man Nick Wells KO"D Larry Holmes, 2 times in the amateurs, I did not think Larry had the chin to be a great fighter, I was wrong but Ali commented during the Holmes/Bobick fight that Holmes got a DQ loss (holding on because he was on the verge of being KO'd

Willie Dewitt from Canada impressed me but he was one of the most mis-manged and mis-trained fighter I have seen come out of the amatuers.

Nick Wells was also jacked as a pro. A waste of talent and power. Shaun O "Sullivan was another great amateur that was ruined as a pro

Surprising and interesting post. How do you find amateur records of fighters ?
Is there any way of finding the complete amateur record ?
