he won 8 out of 9 rounds, and before the injury (which happend in the 7th) cotto had won 5 out of 6 rounds, do you really think it would have been a draw? cotto was gaining alot of momentum towards the end of the 6th round

No way. Cotto already have Foreman figured out before the slip. They were having a good action packed fight.

Maybe Cotto was a little hesitant taking advantage of a limping man.

 

It was Cotto's first fight at 154 against an opponent who's almost 6 feet and was the champion at his divison and rated a top 3-5 LMW...how wasn't it impressive? Cotto dominated the fight from beginning to end and the rounds that Yuri won(one or two rounds at most), he won them by an inch because Cotto was relaxing and wasn't overloading or overthrowing wild punches.

It was an almost flawless performance by Cotto...do you realize how many people in this forum had Yuri winning? Just because Yuri lacks power doesn't make him an easy opponent, he's hard to hit and Cotto managed to get to him and break him down totally. The whole leg thing wasn't making a difference, Foreman's face was getting blasted the entire fight; he was on his way to getting knocked out.

 

Foreman, rated sixth in the top ten at light middle, was handed his first loss by a guy coming off a bad KO against the best fighter in the world, and was widely considered damaged goods.

Cotto didn't do it by stinking the joint out, he did it with great movement, his jab, sharp punching and a great gameplan. He beat a bigger, fresher man by doing the very thing that Foreman was meant to do better - he out-boxed him.

His first fight at the weight, with a convincing stoppage in a near shut-out victory against a top ten ranked opponent with a title, by beating the other guy at his own game = pretty damn impressive.

 

Beating a man who was undefeated, that in his mind felt superior due to never have experienced defeat is a great accomplishment. Haters will be haters. People talk about let's see how Cotto reacts when he faces big hitters, Cotto hasn't been knocked out on one punch. His TWO defeats (Pacquiao has more defeats) were due to continous punishment because of garbage training. His mistakes have been poor defense and poor footwork which seemed to have improved a bit.

 

Only time will tell. His footwork did look better, but I was honestly surprised with Forman's lack of a jab and low workrate.

 

I agree with your post darryl! Cotto didnt do anything special last night he just beat an inferior fighter. When miguel gets in the ring with williams, martinez or margarito hes going to get his ass kicked AGAIN!!
