Its because of Mercante the fight continued ..He's one hell of a ref ..Sorry but I have to disagree with the thread starter !

 

Well ,some people just dont mind other people getting killed in the ring for them entertainment

 

Boxing is too rough and violent for you. Go watch volleyball or something.

 

Yeah and im sure we all wanted to see the fight stopped on an injury ..Foreman said it best im the world champ let me continue ..I saw no immidiate danger for Yuri outside his knee injury ..This is a man's sport not dancing with the stars !!

Serious injury or death should not be a part of boxing dude.

I have no problem with too able bodied fighters fighting with courage....and if one were to die, that happens......but when one guy can not stand basically because his knee buckled.....then he should not be fighting. He can not and will not win. He has no chance. He is at unnessessary risk because he can not compete with a two legged man. It is that simple.

While Yuri showed courage, Mercante showed irresponsiblity.......and a neglect of his primary job in the ring...looking out for the fighters safety.:good

 

Did he not give Yuri ample time to recover as well as aked him over and over again if he can continue ?? I don't know what more you want from him ..:huh

 

Serious injury should not exist in a sport where the point is to KNOCK the other dude OUT???

The whole ****ing point of boxing is to injure someone. Not fatally, but to the point that you win.

I think Mercante did a good job. Telling a fighter to "suck it up" is a good way from distinguishing a fighter who is playing games from one who is hurt. If the injury is legit, the fighter will have to say, "I can't suck it up, I'm too hurt". That is a good thing. If a fighter wants or needs to quit that is their responsibility. Fighters like to have excuses, blame the ref, blame the corner, blame the doctor...Mercante gives the fighter the opportunity to go out with no one to blame but himself.

Fighters sometimes look for a way out, they can't just up and say I'm done, do you know what kind of humiliation that is?? Why the **** do you think fighters stay in the fight like Cotto against Pac??? He knows he can't win that ifght but it's a matter of pride, and sometimes guys WANT to quit but they don't want to shame themselves that much so they risk their health and stay in there.

When an imbecile like Mercante says "Suck it up" he puts further pressure on the fighter to stay in there even though the fighter may know he's not competitive any more and his health is in danger.

I first noticed this idiot in the Cotto Clottey fight when he presumed to say things like "Suck it up" "Be a champ" and such things. Who the **** does he think he is lol?!?!?! I couldn't believe it.

In his mind, he shoulda been on the poster next to Cotto and Foreman.

 

Foreman wanted to go on. Nuff said...***gots (to those who wanted it to be stopped right away)
