so we going with this Heavyweight ESB Champion: Wladimir Klitschko - Beat Ruslan Chagaev June 2009 1. Vitali Klitschko 2. David Haye 3. Alexander Povetkin 4. Ruslan Chagaev 5. Tomasz Adameck 6. Nikolay Valuev 7. Eddie Chambers 8. Sam Peter 9. Tony Thompson 10. Olandier Solis 11. Juan Carlos Gomez 12. Chris Arreola 13. Alexander Dimitrenko 14. Dennis Boystov 15. Evander Holyfield
Thats sounds about right. I´d think Gomez should be somewhat higher and Holyfield probably shouldn´t be there
Agree. Boystov don't deserve a top ten spot. What has he done to earn that? Thompson and Gomez should both outrank Boystov, no more than he's done, thus far. Boystov's most known wins are Bidenko, Hawkins, and Maddelone, for cryin out loud!
This one seems to be pretty good :good I´d change Arreola with Gomez though. And I would not put Evander in here. I´d prefer Helenius as 15th.
I like your rankings Rob and think they're better than The Ring rankings but why is Valuev still on there? He's **** mate and getting worse every fight. After the Holyfield debacle he lost all credibility. I can understand him being top 10ish before the Haye fight but not after. I would pick probably 15 hws to beat him. His resume is pretty **** too. I think #3-10 can be argued many ways. Have no problem with Haye or Adamek higher than I have them. Champ-Wlad 1. Vitali 2. Povetkin 3. Chambers 4. Chagaev 5. Adamek 6. David Haye 7. Thompson 8. Peter 9. Arreola 10. Solis
fair point. I don't think we can put him lower than 7th. None of the guys below have done anything better? Think he gets a bit of an unfair rap from fans tbh
Champion: Wladimir Klitschko 1. Vitali Klitschko 2. David Haye 3. Ruslan Chagaev 4. Alexander Povetkin 5. Eddie Chambers 6. Nicolai Valuev 7. Tomasz Adamek 8. Chris Arreola 9. Tony Thompson 10. Odlandier Solis 11. Juan Carlos Gomez 12. Smauel Peter 13. Dennis Boystov 14. Robert Helenius 15. Francesco Pianeta This division is a complete mess. Outside of either Klitschko versus Haye, Povetkin, and Valuev the fights simply aren't that enticing because the current generation of contenders has been taken apart by Wlad and Vitali. Boystov and Helenius might be very good down the road (Pianeta less so, but still solid), but all three of these guys need 3-4 more fights before taking their chances against the elite.
Ok, going on whats been discussed here this is the rankings were going with. To discuss further please go to the full rankings thread. Heavyweight This content is protected 1. Vitali Klitschko 2. Absurd to put Haye in front of Povetkin or Chagaev... Povetkin beat....Estrada, Byrd, Brock, Chambers...no contest here. Chagaev beat better versions of Valuev and Ruiz, plus Virchis. Haye has beaten...Valuev...plus some decent wins at cruiser. A better list... Champ: Wlad 1. Vitali 2. Povetkin 3. Chagaev 4. Chambers 5. Haye 6. Adamek 7. Peter 8. Valuev 9. Thompson 10. Gomez Someone please explain how one could objectively rate Haye above Povetkin....
Povetkin best wins are Chambers in 2008 and old Byrd in 2007. Hayes victory over Valuev and Ruiz equals those victories and they are more recent. So there is really no reason to rank him above Haye.
Povetkin's last 4 fights have been against Taurus Sykes, Jason Estrada, Leo Nolan and Javier Mora.. Haye's heavyweight fights (Barrett, Vaulev, Ruiz) have at least been slightly better than that. But it's a close one and I can certainly see why Povetkin could be above Haye in the rankings and he definitely deserves his shot at Wlad next.
