I agree too. You guys are conflating two issues here: - Mercante ignoring the tossed towel, and - Mercante encouraging Foreman to "suck it up." The referee has the right to ignore a towel. The referee does not have the right to coach fighters in the ring. It's unfair to the other guy (in this case, Cotto), and it's stepping on the toes of the corner. It is deliberate interference with the natural dynamics of the game and should not be allowed. The referee is supposed to be objective. Period.
