I'm sure this has been done before, but lets get something definitive going...

The Fighter of the 90's - Roy Jones

    or

The Fighter of the 00's - Manny Pacquaio

    - who do you rate more highly and why?

pac has acheived more and beaten better competition although half were shot when they had there encounters.

whereas jones so so talented and would hav beaten almost anybody if you put him in that desired weightclass

Pacquiao because he's beaten the better opposition and accomplished more than Jones did. However, Jones is probably the more naturally gifted of the two.

roy jones jr is now at the stage where we can ignore his current performances and look how he was in his prime.

one concern i have is his chin, it wasnt tested until tarver cracked it. did he always have a bad chin? who knows. but his athletic ability puts him head and shoulders above anyone around his divisions, the only hope he has of losing is if someone gets lucky with a shot.

Roy Jones beat two all time greats in Toney and Hopkins when both were in there primes. Pacman has beat a lot of top fighters as well in there primes. Morales and Barerra weren't as far gone as some say. The only knock so far on Pacmans resume compared to Jones is the only all time great fighter that he ever fought in De La Hoya was a shadow of who he once was, but if he beats Mayweather then I think that will outweight the wins of Jones over Hopkins, and Toney since Mayweather is regarded, and has been regarded the p4p king for a long time minus his "Retirement"

Close but clear for Pac he has a deeper resume than Roy.

Roy was the better fighter but he spent too much time fighting scrubs even if some of those scrubs where rated in the top ten in his division.

The H2H in prime and the resume are at war with each other on this one very much I think. It depends which you go by the most.

I rate Roy Jones Jr higher. This guy in his prime was remarkable.

Do you think DLH is greater than Morales and Barrera? I disagree.

BTW, Hopkins was not prime when he fought RJJ, he was green.

For this discussion I have Pac on resume and RJJ on talent.

Gotta favour Pac. As amazingly talented as RJJ was during him prime he just does not have the resume to be regarded as a greater fighter.

I have no doubt P4P Jones was the better fighter in terms of ability but you have to prove how great you are not just look the part.
