How I feel as well. It's pretty redundant to tell a fighter willing to fight with one leg to "suck it up."
Great ref. Allowed the fight to continue as the fighter wished. Cant ask for too much more than that. He never put Foreman in great danger, when the consistant hard shots began to land, he stopped it.:good
Good referee. Not many would have had the presence of mind or calmness to keep things under control last night. He did.
Brilliant piece of referring yesterday. Watching the fight now, he just goes over to the corner and says 'Who threw in the towel?' and Foreman's cornerman says 'Not me' while it's being explained Buffer over the mic that it come from an 'outside source'.
I totally agreed with his decision in the Cotto fight Foreman hadn't fallen again, he didn't dramatically slow down The pace had picked up and Foreman was mobile for a period of time Then all of a sudden the towel came in out of NOWHERE.
One thing that struck me was his saying a goodbye to his father into the microphone during referees instructions. Perhaps he got the OK for this. But if he didn't, that was outrageous. I understand why he would want to do it but Cotto's father just passed - if he'd decided to put it out of his mind before the opening bell, he was properly reminded of it seconds before.
Talks too much in the ring and somewhat officious. Having Foreman continue with one leg was pretty much sending a lamb to slaughter. One of the worst decisions I have seen in a while. IF Foreman had gotten seriously hurt due to that decision, I wonder how he could have lived with himself.
Hes horrible, never liked him. I would have preferred Smoger to do the main event. I dont care what they say how great of a job he did, that whole scenario was a mess.
He is just a ref. I dont care about this guy. But I agree with this post. The fight was over when the guy collapsed. People are sick in the head.
