Absolutely. This is what Haye fans muleheadedly refuse to accept. They love the fact that Haye has a belt and that he's a star in the UK, but they refuse to admit that all of that hype was built on his promises to oust both Klitschkos. If he had simply been smart and had done what his idol, Evander Holifield had done and worked his way to the top, he wouldn't be in this position. But now he had painted himself into the proverbial corner and he is losing fans by the minute.

    I agree with the op.
He lists all the reasons why Haye has fans.
Reserve judgement until his next opponent is announced.

You guys ought to give the WBA Heavyweight Champion of the World some respect. If you Americans are as smart as you claim to be you'd see the electricity that Haye has brought to the Heavyweight division.

We're still waiting for a thank you for retiring that pest Ruiz.

And if you were a bit more disspassionate you would see that Haye is quickly squandering all of that excitement that was based almost entirely on his promises to conquer the Klitschkos. Sorry, but I've watched his heavyweight fights and you can color me less than impressed. Yes, he was great at cruiserweight. But his bouts at heavy leave a lot to be desired.

Thank you David Haye for retiring a completely irrelevant figter who had had 5 fights in his last 5 years. A fighter who hadn't had a significant win in 7 years and one that was so past his prime he could have been an exhibit in a museum. Is that good enough for you? :D

I don't think you guys are giving Haye enough credit for facing Valuev, the GOAT. Vitali and Wladimir are ducking Valuev, Haye fought Valuev. Therefore, Haye > Klitschko Brothers.

Haye is the 3rd best HW in the world, with a chance to unify the titles and to become the true champ. What is he waiting for? He's in his prime, he should look upon a fight with either Klit as a great opportunity, not as a risk. The best should fight the best, period.
I'm getting tired of waiting, Haye's acting like a 'punk a** b*tch' right now...

Ok, so you came out and you're a Haye....not that there's anything wrong with that.
