I thinking to myself this eye-poke in the Cunningham fight should have been ruled a no-contest because the thumb clearly hit the eye in slow-motion. But then I wondered..is this even in the rules?

So does anyone know if this is actually in the rulebook? Because the ref and doctor decided to stop the fight by tko with no problem.

I want to know how Mercante Jr. could refuse to stop the fight when Foreman's cornerman was up on the apron. I thought that required an automatic disqualification of the fighter. I guess not.

Nah I've seen it a couple of times, the ref throwing the towel back out the ring. If the ref doesn't see the cornermen up on the apron either waving, or throwing the towel in...he can't just assume it's the corner throwing the towel in.

From what I gathered on Saturday...the ref asked Foreman's corner if they threw the towel in, and they said no. Although Foreman had a knee injury, Foreman could still punch and the ref gave him a shot...whilst looking for the first opportunity to stop it.

thanks guys. you answered another guy's question.

does it clearly state it anywhere? is there a link to this?

I'm currently in my first youtube fight and someone is arguing that if the referee called it a tko then it's a legit tko, thumb or no thumb. I want to win this argument by KO or throw in the towel..

    anyone?

actually, that happened before the end of the 4th round, so it should've been a no contest. If GYM is smart, they will contest it.

As for the throwing in the towel "ONLY THE REFEREE CAN STOP THE FIGHT"

How many times does Lederman have to say it

If Campbell vs Bradley was overturned I see no reason why this wouldn't be.
