    Fogey,

    I eat up Bogie and Cagney, as well as Robinson and George Raft flims........ I love and have that stuff on video-tapes' galore...........

    Horror with Karloff, Lugosi and Chaney Jr. is also to my liking........

    Abbott & Costello, The 3 Stooges, Marx Bros., W.C. Fields and the Bowery Boys all make me laugh..........

    MR.BILL:deal:bbb:lol::thumbsup

  2. Boxing is such a unique sport. Even the best athletes arn't guarenteed anything.

    I have seen professional 1st grade rugby league players flung around the ring by blokes who seem lower than the average person on the street. They come in and get exhausted train on the bags, then want to spar. What happens next is a phenomenon.

    Great thread btw.

    Amen to that MB. Im in my 30s and find it very hard to find films with the calibre of funny one-liners than i do with cagney and bogart etc.

    P.S. watched wallace beery in 'The champ' recently and i was in total awe at his world champion prizefighting physic:lol:

    Jeffries ran 8.7 seconds for the 100yd dash with a bull moose on his shoulders,he could high jump 15ft from a standing start,and fart like a cannon .

    First cousin.
    Jeffries was Dutch /Scottish/German / Cherokee/Comanche. Jewish/Catholic, with Lutheran tendencies, which he hid from the press.
    He was so hairy, he had to shave his body twice a day.
    Some doubt he really was human, and believe him to have been a Congo Gorilla.

    Earnie Shavers was a surprisingly good athlete. According to his book, he played FB and Defensive Line in High School and ran track. In the late 70s he won the superstar competition 100 yard dash with a 10.6, which is pretty good for a 30 ish HW.
