I don't think boxers ever write open letters themselves, there's the media guy to put their words into proper form. This time probably the lawyer used the keyboard with Maidana sitting next to him.

Exactly what parts do you question and based on what knowledge?

I think its fair to say this is Maidana's PR teams spin on the situation since rumours were being leaked that he faked the injury. This promotor Mario whatever probably has his own side to the story that we can only hear when (should) he speak up.

Look at the whole tone of that letter. If that **** happened to me, I would be pissd at my manager, GBP, and possibly HBO. However, only the manager gets trashed in the letter. Why is that? Well, if you're thinking clearly and have good foresight, you would know that you need HBO and GBP on your side. Look at how he basically accuses GBP of not having a valid contract with him and then uses complimentary language towards Hoya himself in order to goad GBP into providing proof of a valid contract.

That's very clever and manipulative, too clever and manipulative for a fighter who was directly involved in the situation and effected by his emotions. In all likelyhood, his new manager convinced him to drop his old manager. He then came up with this entire letter in order create more distance between Maidana and his old manager, quell thougts about him being a ducker amongst his fans, and create a more financially favorable position with GBP and HBO, without pissing them off.

Sounds like he got screwed. But if he doesn't get the copies of the contracts that he signed, then he asked for it. Also, as a fighter, i would never allow my managment to sign contracts for fights for me. Hope he gets it all worked out so he can fight khan, bradley, or alexander soon.

Like you, I deal with contract work on a daily basis. With that siad, Maidina's shady manager more than likely had him sign a 'Power of Attorney' at some point, in order for him to conduct his business from a long distance.

It sounds as if Maidina didn't even know what he has signed or not signed.

GBP are a shady organisation. We've seen the robberies in favor of GBP fighters. We've seen them kidnap Pac and offer him a suitcase full of case. We've seen them try to destroy Pac through a deliberate media campaign of hate and lies, including through DLH's blog on GBP owned Ring Magazine. We've seen them sell JMM out in his fight with Mayweather. If they have nothing to hide, then give Maidana what he asked for. They will probably threaten to take Maidana to court knowing the contracts connecting him to them are illegal just to scare him into backing off. Anyone thinking GBP have a boxer's best interests at hand having De La Hoya as a figurehead is surely mistaken. He is as slimey as they come.

It's about showing the WBA that he wants to keep their belt. He said what he meant imo.

So in essence...this would definitely point to assumption of Marcos being a liar.

Maidana has balls the size of church bells! Fans want to see him fight. It's a shame that criminal managers cause so much trouble for fighters. He would have knocked Bradley out.
