Suggestions Mayweather is just bluffing Pacquaio are based in the fear of losing their seminal fight. Those who suggest it have short memories.

It wouldn't surprise me if the fight went south. Mayweather is cute, in and out of the ring.

Of course, it could be a bluff. But somehow he's managed to get everyone talking about him, including Roach. Getting them hot under the collar already.

Manny has nowhere else to go does he. Some good fights but he needs this more than Mayweather IMO.

Pac needs this more than Mayweather?
Tell that to the Boxing Writers Association of America :deal

Good article. But if Mayweather retires again instead of facing Pac it will surely be a black mark against his legacy and can only serve to enhance Pac's even more. Pac can retire without facing anyone else with his place among the greats already moulded and solidified.

He needs it more because he doesn't have Mayweather's hide. Pacman will be more frustrated by the fight not happening that Floyd. He needs it because it will consume him and because as yet he cannot surpass Mayweather because Mayweather has gotten to DLH, Hatton and Mosley before Pacman could.

Mayweather has the demeanour to retire and frustrate everyone - he did it before. He could do it again. Its a powerful string to his negotiating bow.

Pacman has no alternate opponent, no desire to retire and is the one chasing Mayweather's results.

I agree Pacman is fighter of the year etc.....but that itsn't quite the measure I'm posing. Pacman needs Mayweather more because Mayweather has the option to retire and not feel unfulfilled.

Pacman doesn't have that in his make up I don't think.

Who gives a **** about this fight? These guys are making too much money if you ask me. I say let them negotiate themselves out of 40 million.

See your point. But for all the criticism, it will be a shame if boxing misses this opportunity to pitch its two greatest fighters together.

I think the plan is for Pac to have one more fight and then he will retire to his elected office in the Phillipines. His only desire to continue may just be the Mayweather fight and he could call it quits altogether if it doesn't come off. But as there is already a date set in November for a fight most probably Arum will put him in with either Cotto again or Margo. He most likely won't fight anymore after that.

Pac will feel more unfulfilled, on a personal level, I agree, than Mayweather. Not because his legacy is inferior to Mayweather's, infact you will find to the majority of boxing experts it is already far superior. Pac loves to test himself, always saying he believes in his power. Mayweather on the other hand believes his own **** that he is already the GOAT and feels he has nothing to prove. In that sense, you're right. From a legacy standpoint it is clear Mayweather needs it more.

What would make you think like this... Pac has Barerra, Morales, and Marquez.. Before even attempting a move above featherweight.. These 7 fights trump anything floyd has ever attempted..

Pac wants this fight, to show any doubters he his better than Floyd regardless of size or weight classes... Floyd couldn't even fight fair against an aging featherweight in Marquez, so what's that you say?

The majority of fans and critics side with Pacman, however there is a very vocal minority of Floyd supporters... Much like their favorite fighter Floyd, they have big mouths with very little brain function...

He does Renyo and please don't mistake the point I'm trying to make as a criticism of Pacman - a fighter I adore watching - but I felt he lost the first JMM fight and he also lost one of the Morales fights when Erik was a long-way removed from his prime.

This doesn't erase the credit Pacman deserves for beating them entirely but it does balance the books a little. Mayweather had other victories before Mosley and DLH too.

The point I'm making is, such is Mayweather's hide, he could retire and feel far less regret than Pacman. Its life mirroring their style. Pacman is more full on, Mayweather more circumspect.

Wants - needs are interchangeable here I suppose. Pacman needs it more, could be wants it more.

I understand... And they really could have gone either way both times against Marquez.. I feel Morales was at the tail end but was really focused and wanted to show who he was and what he was about.. Of course the further the trilogy went along Morales showed more wear..

I think when Pac is done boxing he'll leave it all in the ring.. He has big dreams and aspirations outside the ring.. He has an identity outside of boxing, which is something Mayweather has been trying to find for years..

If for some reason Mayweather really does retire... I can see Pac having a few more fights and really retiring for good and focusing on his family and country. Mayweather on the other hand would probably make returns to the ring for riches and for the limelight he can't seem to get enough of.. sadly in a couple years he won't be prime and would probably start losing to lesser fighters..

At this point Mayweather has a stigma surrounding him filled with ducking and cherrypicking.. At the end of the day he'll be the one left with an empty feeling inside while Pac retires as a legend..

they dont need each other to cement there legacy they are already atg fighters, anything at this point wil just enhance their legacy, we are all frustrated and want to see them fight

the thing is most people do not know what is needed to be ranked atg, it is basically accomplishment opponents beat and talent/skil level right? because no fighter can face everyone in their division. instead fans just jump on the bandwagon of pac and co and blame $

freddie roach is the fault at most of this, since he trained oscar and nearly beat him for mayweather fight only losing by SP he has had a unhealthy obsession because like it or not apart from willie pep and benny leonard thwere probably isnt a more talented fighter that has laced them up.

bottom line freddie got an unhealthy obsession with mayweather and obsession leads to possesion
