Well, it would actually mean he would be the lhw champ prove his supriority over the lhw division. So, yes it would make a difference. DM would also be one of his best wins, second only to Toney.

 

If wins over Bernard Hopkins, Thomas Tate, James Toney, Clinton Woods, Julio Gonzalez, Sugar Boy Malinga, Reggie Johnson, Montell Griffin, Antonio Tarver and a fully fledged heavyweight don't satisfy people, then a padded resume from Europe won't do **** either!

DM would be his second best win. Jones never proved his superiority over the lhw division. He only got belts that DM was stripped of or G. Rocchigiani - who went to court for that and won! - got stripped of. A win over DM would have proven his superiority over the lhw division and that would be a big deal.

 

DM was a better lhw than Tarver and a better lhw than Ruiz was a hw. Hopkins was 4 years removed from his prime, yes a win over a prime DM would have been better.

 

DM was absolutely better than everyone you mentioned save for Hopkins and Toney, I'd say. Jones would've beaten an extraordinarily accomplished fighter there. No joke.

 

Better than the Tarver who fought Jones or Harding? I disagree!

The Ruiz win is exceptional because Jones vaulted up in weight and it simply looks better than a win over a protected Euro fighter holding a WBO bauble.

Hopkins was undefeated and could still fight like ****. He's better all around.

TG, DM had three of the four light heavyweight belts at one point, as well as a cruiserweight belt and was the linear light heavyweight champion. Saying he was just a protected Euro fighter holding a WBO bauble is a bit ignorant there, bud.

Darius best wins were against Jones leftovers who weren't that good in the 1st place. Jones was electric in unifying all the belts and had some great wins:

1 round demolision of Griffin
4th round KO of Hill
Shutting out Reggie Johnson

One look at both fighters and you know who was superior. This is a prime Jones we're talking about. NO CONTEST!

 

I know what he held and I'm an expert on the main governing body that he represented for the majority of his career.

We're talking Jones best wins. Compare them to Darius wins!

I thought we were talking about the significance of a win over DM on RJJ's legacy. It should be no argument that it would've been good. Nobody said DM was better than Jones at all, at least I didn't.
