Whats the old adage "Speed your born with Power can be taught" ..I heard that from an old boxing trainer ..I may have the quote wrong but it was something along those lines

What about the old adage that fighters shouldn't have sex before a fight?

    Can you increase punching power?

    Think Tommy Hearns!

And to a lesser extent Kelly Pavlik.

Speed is trickier. However, better timing and improved hand/eye coordination goes a long way.

now this is an interesting one. Does busting a nut decrease your fighting spirit/ability? Maybe. We need research on this subject.

Yes it weaknes the legs ..But my trainer told me that the reason for that is also so that the fighter has more of a killer instinct .

Excellent timing and good hand/eye coordination goes a long way toward making up for a hand speed deficit. Think Arguello.

Power = the proper use of leverage, and to a great extent you can learn that. (Little Red, Hearns, Argullo, Pavlik, et, scrawny guys with big power.)

Well a 10 minute quicky the night before a fight probably won't matter, but obviously if your going to a have a 3 hour marathon your wasting alot of energy when you should be resting.

Still that does improve handspeed. In my gym one of my trainers said that using bigger gloves can improve handspeed. That works for me because I notice I'm faster on the heavybag than I used to be say a month ago. Then again, I've always had handspeed so maybe it was slight improvement to my handspeed.
