    Utter BS.

Chris Byrd was involved in a study in that the matter.

But there was never any reason to believe that there was any truth in the matter.

Abraham does the same, places weights around his gloves and hits the heavy bag.

IMO, once you're developed as a boxer, you can only grow more power. You speed remains. And some people have naturally fast hands. You don't get to be Ali fast by training, this skill is borned.

Oh with out a doubt .They also have us do that as well use the big gloves too ..Them dam things do two things improve on handspeed as well as power ..But like I said I don't know how much more handspeed we ill get out of these routines because most trainers feel your born with speed ,Sure we will be faster than we was but never to the level of a leoanrd .

abolutely true. not that you have to do a lennox (abstained for a month before the fight apprently), but yeah in any sport, for guys, it's not a good idea at all to ejaculate a day or 2 before participating in a sporting event. from all my years experience, it really, really does have an impact, especailly as you get "older" (past 20ish). i mean think scientifically, how much does your body have to work to produce millions of mini-yous. think of the power of sexual drive and it's impact on restlessness, alertness, etc.

Women, on the other hand, SHould have sex the night before a sporting event. apparentlyh there is a lot of energy in semen.

Both Tommy Hearns and Kelly Palik are tall. Being tall gives a natural advantage when it comes to punching power.

this is the same concept as using a weight on your bat before hitting in baseball, its in your mind that you feel your hands are moving faster, but in reality they arent, in baseballs case warming up with a donut or weighted bat actully hinders your performance and reduces your bat speed

Maybe true but I do feel that it has helped my hand speed the diffrence with baseball is the bat ..Let not forget that a baseball bat weighs more than gloves but I could see the similarities ..Would say them it could increase your power ??

True, but neither was a knock out artist in the amatuer ranks. Both guys started knocking people out rather suddenly when they figured out how to use their leverage. Pavlik figured it out at a younger age then Hearns, but Tommy was obviously the better fighter and the bigger puncher. Both are examples of the fact that power can be aquired through improved technic.

I don't know about being born with speed or power or not. I think with some speed and/or power are something they are born with and others(like me) it improves as they are aging and in their youth. Years ago I thought I couldn't crack an egg with my fist but as I'm in my later teen years it got much better. Another think that could explain my power is that I maybe always had it but I wasn't throwing my punches correctly so it seemed like I was a feather-fisted guy when maybe I never was. I think I was born with speed though.

I don't think they'd use this training method at the very top level if it didn't have success. And even if it's just in your mind, confidence can be a factor in handspeed.
