Would Ray have sneaked a decision off the naturally bigger light-heavy Bob Foster ? Would Foster have made Leonard see the error of one challenge too far ? Sugar Ray beat Don Lalonde, but in my book that should only have been for the super-middle title,as the weight limit was 168. Mind you,Leonard could never be discounted on pulling off the impossible.

In all actuality,I could also see Foster winning inside the scheduled distance, but Ray would probably give him a good fight before he's stopped.

Foster. Leonard would be knowing enough not to take the fight in the first place, but even if he wasn't, I'm not sure any man steps up from a lower weight to beat Bob at 175. In fact, I'm nigh on positive.

Foster leaves the ring in hand-cuffs after slaughtering Ray Leonard into unconsciousness after this one.

It's a lovely thought. Ray tries to replicate Mike Quarry's ring perimeter boxing tactics before getting nearly decapitated senseless. Personally, I would stipulate that six ounce gloves are worn.

Foster by decapitation. I'm not saying Ray couldn't put up a good fight for awhile. I'm only saying that at some point Foster would catch him, and a natural welter can't deal with Foster catching him flush.

A very bad matchup for SRL and what would have been career suicide...Foster would have killed him and would have enjoyed doing so. Foster ko 3 Leonard. And SRL thought Tommy Hearns hit hard....

True..few modern fighters seem to know their limitations, but I doubt that Leonard would have ever attempted this fight.

Leonard was - at times - something of a charlatan where matchmaking was concerned; it's one of the reasons I've never really liked him. Regardless of how brilliant he was.

Let's face it - if Monzon knew that moving up to fight Foster was a futile manoevre, why would a man as calculating as Leonard bother?

Leonard would never ever make that fight. Never ever. To clever and intelligent for that.
