Salido defeated Robert Guerrero on the undercard of Mayweather-Baldomir, but the decision was overturned and ruled a NC after Salido tested positive for steroids.

Brandon Rios is a pretty crowd pleasing aggressive fighter who just stopped Jorge Teron in his last fight. He was supposed to fight Urbano Antillon recently, but was cut in sparring.

    HBO's next card isn't until July 17th (Bradley-Abregu, Angulo-Alcine).

Finally, I'm happy that they got at least a decent opponent for Gamboa. Salido will be a big step up for Gamboa in opponent level, I'm really looking forward to that fight.

I've been watching the Salido-Marquez fight (probably seen it 4 times since Salido was mentioned as a possible opponent for Gamboa:oops:) and I have seen that Salido has much more noticeable flaws than an Elio Rojas or Juanma or someone of that caliber. Salido dips in, almost faking a punch, but then never pulls the trigger. This could leave an opportunity for Gamboa to hit him with a big one. Salido has been KO'd 5 times, so its not out of the question that Gamboa sparks his ass.

I remembered that BigBone was concerned about Elio Rojas being a very tough matchup for Gamboa because of his supreme defense and counter punching ability. IMO, I don't think that Gamboa will have that problem with Salido. I'm hoping someone else knows more about Salido than just one fight a few years ago, so please, let me know if I'm completely off.

What the **** is wrong with you guys? This is a ****ing awesome card. Orlando Salido is a solid opponent for Gamboa. He is a tough boxer puncher with decent power. Do not be fooled by the ten losses. Many of those losses were early in his career an his last two losses were decision losses to Juan Manuel Marquez (no shame in that) and a split decision loss that could have gone either way against Cristobal Cruz (who he recently beat decisively).

Brandon Rios vs Anthony Peterson is a great fight as well. Both are up and coming fighters that haven't had a real stiff test and we'll find out who is the more progressed fighter thus far in their careers. Great battle of two up and comers.

I was so disappointed that Anthony Peterson vs Humberto Soto didn't get finalized as part of the Cotto/Foreman undercard...that would have been a NICE SCRAP!!!

this is a step up for gamboa.. but the sad part is when a guy with ten loses that has been KO five times is a step up

    :hat
