Can Anyone defend Haye's fighting Audley?

The only reasoning behind this bout I can think of is money...like I've said before, as long as we see Haye in with either Klitschko before the end of the year...I'm not fussed.

 

If Sosnowski and Johnson are contenders, so is Audley.

 

no they are stop gaps. klitschos are waiting for haye to man up but he's gone to audley instead.....

 

I think the main thing to keep in mind is that negotiations are taking place and no deal has been agreed upon. It is possible that Haye might be negotiating with Harrison in an attempt to get a better offer from the Klitschko camp. I realize that Boente has stated that he offered Haye a 50/50 no option fight, but it is one thing to say this and another to actually do it.

That being said, Audley Harrison is in no way shape or form a credible challenger. If Haye is insistent on taking another fight before he fights one of the Klitschko brothers, he should take a fight with a credible opponent. Tony Thompson would be a good choice, imo.

 

No. It would be a total farce and a disgrace.
The only defence I could offer would be on a personal level and ignoring the sport, Haye has a right to make as much money for himself and his family as he can whilst in a risky sport. But so does any fighter and if that is their priority (and it has never appeared to be his when you look at his career) then they should not expect to command respect for their ring exploits or be popular with fans.

In terms of how it should be viewed by fans of the sport, it should be totally derided and I for one wont be offering any defence of Haye on here anymore if he signs this.

I will put some hefty money on Haye by KO1 and KO2. But I sure as **** wont be paying to watch that **** shower of a fight.

I do agree that Haye gets some over-the-top stick on here but the Harrison fight would be indefensible for his fans

The Klits have a track record of offering joke contracts. Maybe Haye is waiting for them to 'contract up'.

 

the bottom line is that the british HW scene is a merry-go-round of B grade heavies. it's an easy payday for haye.

 

haye has already accepted fights with them and pulled out of both.
if haye wanted "stop gaps" before fighting the brothers maybe he shouldn't have taunted them, accepted fights with them, pulled out of those fights...and shown that he was never interested to begin with.

if it smells like bull**** and sounds like bull****...it is bull****.

Or maybe he got a better offer, took it, and is now a HW champion who can call the shots.

Bottom line, if the Klits can go around fighting the likes of Sosnowski and Johnson then Haye can fight Audley.

 

wha do you think is more important?
holding 'a' HW belt or beating one of the 2 brothers who are recognised as the legitimate force of the HW division.
there is no better offer if he really believes what he says.

i respect haye for taking the valuev fight and winning even if it wasn't pretty - i do - but he doesn't want to fight the brothers if he takes an audley fight.

 

I'm the same as you in that I'd like to see him fight a Klit now.

But if it isn't going to happen at this time (and we can't know the full reasons why), then he may as well fight Audley....which would be a rich fight in the UK via PPV on Sky Sports.

By the way, Audley has the ability to KO Haye or either Klit.......though it's unlikely to happen given he's so gun-shy.

 

the klit's are too smart and they would demolish audley honestly. they are smart boys.
i can understand haye v. audley because it would be lucrative in the UK - but it's still a case of haye avoiding the klits when he built up fights with them for months.

i'm starting to think haye is an extremely shrewd businessman and (unfortunately) a student of joe calzaghe, who called out hopkins and jones in their prime from the safety of wales but never did anything to fight them in their prime (which we would all have liked to see).

Like AnthonyW said, if he ends up fighting a Klitschko before the end of the year then I guess it works out fine.
