I'm not saying stewards is a bad trainer but he's overrated.. he doesnt know any more than a bunch of old trainers in gyms around the world.. my trainer when i boxed was around boxing for over 30 yrs he co trained wilfred benitez when he started out.. has a bunch of boxers close to become champion or go to the olympics but a few got arrested for murder so they didnt made it.. all im saying is that if he had one boxer give him a chance he can show he is a top trainer just like many around but to get the chance you need to take a boxer to the top and then others will give you a chance.. if it wasnt for hearns you would never wouldve heard of steward... hearns gave him the platform the recognition and the name to do what he does.. now all he does is take over fighters that are on top.. now people are giving him a lot of credit for cotto but i saw the same cotto.. he just had more confidence that's all

don't you think if the 'real' trainers would have more success with their job
they would be fighting for real trophies and they would be more recognized?
... if they are not then probably they aren't good enough as you try to convince us.

you cant judge Steward, Roach or Mayweather only by looking on Wlad, PAC, or Floyd
.... if they have no success with other fighters this means they are overrated but
in the case of Roach and Steward this is not true. And it doesn't matter what
methods they teach as long as this is working for their fighters.

This is because Stewart was the worst of the best trainers and is on top since all the great trainers have died.
Stewart does not do well training BOXERS. He trains BRAWLERS.

like i said before steward is still living up his reputation from training thomas hearns.. every other fighter he trained was on top already and couldve been train by anybody and have the same results.. roach is there because he's connected from his fighting days so a lot of managers bring their top boxers to him.. the real trainers are the ones helping amateurs fighters, really young fighters and teach them their craft and then bring them up to the pros only to be stolen by big managers and promoters that change the trainers with the excuse they need a more expirience trainer

steward is accustomed to train heavyweights so head movement is not much important i guess:D better stick to jab jab jab jab jab then followup straight:D

It's difficult to move head all the time, and fight tall. Try moving around your head and jabbing... difficult. Look at kessler's last fight with Froch. One of the most sound standing tall boxers who is very precise with his punches was extremely sloppy. Why? Take a look at the first few rounds and his head movement (and the general style of fight).

Steward has an approach that's well adapted to the modern style of scoring fights. Moving your head doesn't win you rounds on activity, jabbing does.

steward is an overrated trainer now. steward like guys who are tall with a very rangy jab. trying to get cotto to fight tall really shows how bad of a trainer steward is now. it's totally wrong for the style and size of cotto.

Yey i remember when he tried to turn Chavez into some counter punching cutie (See Randall II) Chavez had some underrated boxing skills however he was most comfortable coming forward. He tried to turn Chavez into something he was not.

I'm the opposite, relentless. I thought Steward would make a poor fit for Cotto, even if he'd still be a massive improvement from his last corner. However, I think I might be wrong now. I think he'll be making Cotto rely on his best asset from the outside, which is his jab and use his right hand more, which was never bad, just lacking.
