Kessler lacked discipline against froch

Somebody mentioned that Kessler fought the hole fight like the 12. round vs. Calzaghe. In that fight his trainer Richard Olsen said the same thing over and over and over and ..........................over: "Be hard on Calzaghe - make it tough - throw the first punch" but sadly Kessler didn't listened...........

4 Myself is precisely the opposite - Kessler won because he fought a disciplined fight even when he was clearly the more damaged of the two when they exchanged. Basically, Froch punches harder and he relied on the punch to make Kessler back off but the Dan fought with big heart and determination, always following a game plan and that was what the judges scored for in a close fight.

 

Kessler's body punching won lots of rounds in his favor for me. He took the gas out of Froch's tank and Froch couldn't do anything except hope to land one of his slow ass punches. Kessler, outclassed Froch, and that should let you know how little I think of Froch.

Kessler rocked froch a few times but at no point did either look like they wouldve won by KO

First, Kessler won the fight.

He did so while fighting Froch's fight.

And yet, I believe Froch showed me more in that loss than any of his wins.

 

Kessler was fighting for his career and loving it. Froch just went too quiet in the middle rounds - he could have won the fight but was lazy.

 

I still don' get why Kessler threw so many wide-looping type punches, and I have not come across a reasonable explaination. To me Froch looks like a sitting duck for a good jab/right hand. Kessler used to have one of the deadliest 1-2s in the business, but he hardly used it at all that night.

One possible explanation could be that Froch himself has a pretty good jab and a hard straight right. With Froch's reach advantage over Kessler and similar speed of footwork one can imagine it's not easy to do what you would like Kessler to do. Kessler did the right thing by hammering away on Froch's body early on. This left Froch without a final lethal offence.
