:rofl i just wanted to express my opinion on him. In terms of knowledge, well he has quite a lot. He gets dismissed as a troll by people a lot of the time because it seems he favours fighters of more recent times, but most of the time he approaches such debates with clear reasoning. Like i say, all my discussions with him have been good ones and he's never embarrassed himself. That's all i can go off. MAGI is far worse than even Pachilles imo. Pachilles makes me laugh at least and is just winding us up. As long as he's not on hyperdrive i like him here. MAGI seems bitter to me.

I am not bitter, I believe strongly that Duran is not as great as what people say. As a matter of fact I am sure of it. The facts show he never beat a great fighter at lightweight no matter how much you try and make it seem. Duran also gets credit for beating Davey Moore who had 11 fights, and when he lost to Benitez a year before he was washed up. Why would a fighter gain status by beating Moore, but have an excuse a year before? Since the 1980's I could not understand his high rating. I was hoping for him to beat Ray or Hearns or Benitez to at least prove he could knock out and prove his dominance over real greats and he never did.
I sound like a broken record because facts do not change. Duran never knocked out a great. Fact or not? And this is a guy who people say is top 10 p4p ever. How can that be?
MAG you also say a lot of **** that is horribly embarrassing which i constantly call you out on, and you in turn constantly ignore. You know you do. A mild example is on the thread discussing whether any fighter could outfight a peak Duran, to which you said Herans already did. When you got reminded that we were discussing a prime Duran, you simply replied with 'what does it matter if he was prime or not, Hearns still beat him'. And it's present here also, you've already said that Buchanan is overrated because he fought Duran, or some other **** to that effect.
So now Buchanan, since he fought Duran, who blatantly isnt very good, must be downgraded as that is all he is famous for, not his wins over Laguna, Navarro, Padunao, Ortiz etc....
If you don't rate Duran inside the top ten p4p of all time then that's fine. I strongly disagree. But let's establish once and for all here how not great Duran is in your opinion. I'm not sure if this is what you are saying, but if you are saying you don't consider Duran very great because he never ko'd a fellow great then you better scrub Tommy Loughran from your list of greats. Let's be honest, that's a poor criterium.
If Marcel, Dejesus and Buchanan weren't great fighters they were damn close. Ray Lampkin, Hector Thompson to name a few were damn good. Duran's competition was very good. Concerning the thread, Rosario needs a knockout here and while anything is possible, I don't see it. Ken has the better jab, better wheels, and is also rougher inside. Rosario's infighting deficiencies were exposed by Chavez (albeit an ATG effort). Buchanan by clear decision.
well when you say what fighter could outfight Duran then since Hearns did outfight him in stopping him I mentioned it since it was not out of the realm of possibility obviously. Comparing Hearns to lighter guys when Duran was at lightweight, what fighter of that era comes close to Hearns with his right hand and I then said Arguello. Many people refuse to think Alexis could stop Duran since Arguello always was below Duran in weight. But a guy like Alexis with a good right hand has a chance and he would have landed that punch, but Duran I could see being too strong and aggressivee. It would have been tough for Alexis since he was smaller than Duran and Duran was not as small a fighter as people think. Welt. in 1980 actually was a perfect weight for him and 154 was not too high for Duran. As for Arguello, they never fought, but that win at lightweight for example would have been Duran's best win at 135. So that jump up in quality might have made for a tougher fight for Duran than people think with Alexis.
