I've been trying to get this point across forever and no Pacquiao fan can explain it. If it didn't make a difference, why risk his win being tainted by a catchweight, why not just make the fight at the proper weight limit? If it didn't make a difference or they didn't think it would make a difference, why not fight at 147 in the first place?
Well nobody made Cotto or DLH do anything, they are big boys and agreed to the catchweights, which are extremely common in boxing anyways. Those drug test came out of nowhere and had alot of negative connotation attached, especially when the date was only three months away and a contract had to be hammered out. At the end of the day Pac has agreed to the blood test, will give Floyd the lion's share of the purse, and said he's available in Nov. No matter how you look at it the ball is back in Mayweather's court if he truly wants to fight.
Didn't COtto say it didn't make too much difference anyway though? I'm not sure if it did or didn't myself
yup...cotto manned up and said "**** it" now, if 2 pounds aint too much, they why didnt cotto say yes to 143, i mean that's only 2 pounds south of 145 deal
Regardless....Cotto asked...he received and came up short. I don't think it's fair to say Cotto wasn't at his best or was drained to rationalize why he lost. Cotto just lost to the better man. He said that much.
so pacquiao gets ripped for going to face cotto 2 pounds under his fighting weight but mayweather is fine to make marquez come up 2 weigh divisions and still not make the catchweight and b4 you all say i aint a mayweather hater or *******
IT was a WW fight with a stipulation on the weight. If Cotto said 143 was fine the fight would have been at 143. However....Cotto asked for 145 in order to face Manny and he got what he wanted. If 145 was TOO risky why did Cotto request and sign the contract? Simple....Cotto was ultimately confident in beating Manny at 145 and the money was good. So he did what he was suppose to do....he just came up short. It happens.
Never thought much about it... But I thought JCC was a huge ***** for making Whittaker fight at 144lbs for the welterweight championship of the world..:deal
