Of course he did! All fighters cherry pick their opponents when they are in position to do so. Cotto's done it himself, so has Floyd, DLH and many others. The weight or catch weight situation was expected. It usually happens when a fighter is moving up in weight seeking challenges against bigger men.

dehyrdrating is worse than moving up in weight.....sure not a classy move to make a fighter move up, but still......losing is harder than gaining it :deal

Everybody should remember that Pac weighed in at 138 against Hatton and Cotto was 146 against Clottey.

Pac wanted 143 and Cotto countered with 145, Pac said OK.

Pac went up 7 and Cotto went down 1.

Cotto was allowed to fight at the true limit though, he was never forced by Clottey like he was by Pacquiao to come in under the weight limit.

Pacquiao always talks about Mayweather trying to dictate blood testing regulations and how they will follow NSAC rules. So why in his mind is he allowed to dictate the regulated weights? He's a hypocrit of the highest order.

    No, I mean...

Pac went up 7 lbs. (138 ) from his last official weigh in for the Hatton fight in May of '09 and Cotto went down 1 lb. (146) from his last official weigh in for the Clottey fight in June of '09.

They then fought in Nov. of '09.

I agree with Roach....as his trainer he's putting Manny up against seemingly impossible challenges where his man is going up against Larger men. So catch weights were a way to level the playing field. With DLH he couldn't dictate the weight....DLH agreed to 147 b/c Manny was moving up 2 divisions...Cotto is a very solid Welter and Roach felt Cotto presented a more difficult challenge ot his fighter therefore sought a way to give hims guy a better foundation. Sure PAC has been calling shots...but he's a shot caller now. Like Floyd is ....like DLH was. It comes with the territory.

There is no 'levelling the playing field' to be had. It's dangerous and it's meaningless. If he doesn't think he's a proper welterweight, simply solution, don't ****ing fight at welterweight. Stick to 140 and fight the likes of Bradley/Alexander.
