what a joke that people say Lewis retired cause he was scared of Vitali - he retire cause he was scared of losing to any DECENT fighter, he was done and he knew it. It could have been anyone else who ran him close in his last fight and made him retire, just cause it was Vitali it dont mean Vitali retired him.

Soon, someone is gonna give Vitali a beating or just run him close - someone not in his class, but it will just be age catching up with him and he will retire. does that mean that person "retired" vitali?

Vitalie is decent but he only fought one excellent HW (an overweight lewis who was on the brink of chucking it all in) and he lost. no luck, no contraversy, he just got beat by a SMARTER fighter.

His problem is that we are reading US/UK media and they are not very bias when it comes to their prejudice against Eastern Europe and Germany. It partly goes back to WW2 and partly goes back to the cold war.

Vitali and his country origin makes him the enemy, what I actually view as a boxer is different to what I read...and dont give a f about his country origin or where he fights from. I see what happens in the ring.

Its a shame most of the ESB posters are filled with Xenophobia when accessing his achievements and skills.

But that is just the way it is.

    Well done to Vitali.

I disagree on Lewis. He was waiting to see if Kirk Johnson would beat Vitali so he could say "I told you our fight was a fluke Vitali is not any good". Klitschko pummeled Johnson and Lewis then retired. Lewis sat on the title for almost 7 months before he retired. He was wanting Klitschko to lose to Johnson. it did not happen.

To this day he still tries to give advice to Vitali's opponents.:rofl:patsch It is almost sad in a way.

:lol:Yeah right Vitali would dismantle him fairly quickly and easily, especially with Briggs having asthma.

i think it's very stupid when people say the HWT division suddenly got weak when the Klitschkos began to dominate it. oh what a coincidence!

It's more like this: The Klitschkos are so great, so devastatingly dominant that they make the rest of the division look much weaker than they actually are. All the greats do this - Holmes, Ali, Tyson, Louis. But when it's two Europeans doing it, oh it's suddenly coincidentally became a weak era just about the day they got here ! Pure hogwash!

    Klitschkos are the new GOAT

I couldn't wade through that opening tome, but imo it's the Larry Holmes thing. Dominant in a lackluster division, despite having some physical attributes that would give most fighters of any era some challenges.

I think the comments in my post are the main reason to be fair.

Vitali is not even as strong as you make him out to be. He doesn't punch as hard as you make it out to be. Foreman, Shavers, Lyle, Tyson, Lewis, Hell even Bruno were harder punchers. They didn't have the height not to get hit back. Lewis was KOed twice by one punch and came a hairs ass from being stopped by Big Frank but Vitali hit him with the kitchen sink on the chin and Lewis didn't go anywhere. A little over the top my man.:deal

Wlad certainly deserves more credit that Vitali. He had to work like hell to come back from the depths of the Sanders and Brewster losses, and did it by beating top guys even while big bro had his feet up and a comfy cushion for his back.

Last couple years, they're about par on performances and comp, but Wladimir fought his way back up while Vitali got gifted a title shot.

I respect "little brother's" achievements a lot more.

Wlad will be rated higher when all is said and done I agree.

But I cannot help thinking that if Vitali had met Wlad in his prime, that Wlad would have been KTFO.

Wlad does not have Vitali's chin or his sick aggression.

By all accounts Vitali is stronger than Wlad H2H. I have seen some interviews by Wlad that pretty much support this, admitting that Vitali is better than him and he would not fight him. This must be as a result of their sparring sessions.

I am a friend of Kirks and I love the guy but there was no way he was gonna beat Lennox or Vklit especially if he did not take it seriously. He had to many people around him telling he looked great and went to training camp late looking like a blob. He was a fat disgrace in the ring against VK and should have never set foot in the ring that night. Johnson cold have been champ with proper training and dedication but to say that Lewis duck the older bro based on him beating down Johnson is a complete re-fabrication of history.

The Kbros are getting the credit they deserve. The are recognized as two dominate Heavyweights today in a division that is full of crap. Most reasonable fans put them within the top 20-30 ATG. Realistically you cannot rate them any higher because VK would have retired along time ago (due to injury) in any earlier era and Wlad's glass jaw would be exposed on the regular. I am not saying they are not talented but they are clearly a level below the ATGs.

BTW Fedor, the best Heavyweight fighter (by far) on the planet right in any discipline!
