The irony of what you are saying, is that the heavyweights of today are probably the worst pure athletes that have boxed at world level in any era.

Good, So you agree, at the very least, Johnson and Ketchell for that matter was better than a shot Holyfield. By default, then I guess you also agree that they were both better than Oquenda, Botha, Savarese and probably Valuev. Career middleweight? He was a light heavyweight at 23 years of age when he fought Johnson and he was tragically killed at just 24. Incidentally, since i am on holyfield at the moment, if he died at 24, he would have been a career light heavyweight! Not me personally, but Nino Benvenutti seems to think that Carlos Monzon decked Joe Frazier. Is that close enough?

He made his reputation fighting fighters smaller than him with limited boxing skills and stamina. It is also interesting that he picked 1920 to land the time machine. Not only this, but Johnson's chin would be an issue in the 70's. If Ketchel could floor Johnson, cause him to roll over, and brace himself to get up, then what happens if Frazier or Foreman hit him? The same goes for Lyle or Shavers.
JacK Johnson has been considered by many an all time great.But from 1970 to 75 there were many who would put the Galveston Giant to the test.Frazer,Foreman Ali, and Quarry have been mentioned.But awkward durable fighters, like Chuvalo and Bonavena could cause problems for Johnson,along with boxer jimmy Ellis and slugger Mac Foster. In 1970, Jack Johnson would barely miss fighting older Sonny Liston,but the very well perserved Floyd Patterson would be up to the challenge.Johnson would be pushed by all of these guys.
